Blyth UCW plans day for women Do you ever feel you need a day to yourself - a day to be pampered, entertained and waited on. Well, here is your chance to say it is "My Turn"! The third annual Women's Day Out, sponsored by the Blyth United Church Women, will be held this year on April 12 in the Blyth Memorial Hall and Bainton Art Gallery. All women from the area arc invited to come for a well deserved Day Out! The day begins at 9:15 a.m. with registration, coffee, juice and muffins, a chance to visit with your friends and wander through the Ladies' Lucky Loonie Sale. In today's society, women are often overcome by the demands of everyday living and begin to have a negative self image. To help curb these negative thoughts and expand on the day's theme of 'Feeling Good About Yourself', Bonnie Holliday of CKNX's Voices of Mid Western Ontario, will begin the morning presentations featuring a motivational talk. Musical entertainment, informa tive self-help demonstrations including makeup and colours, cooking, yoga, toll painting and line dancing demonstrations will also take place during the morning and over the lunch hours. A delicious smorgasbord luncheon including many delicious treats, that are sure to taste even better because someone else has prepared them, is included in the price of the ticket. In the afternoon there will be a Fashion Show presented by Bainton's Old Mill, Dressing Room Only, The Old Mill (all of Blyth), Lauretta's Hug and 1/2 of Wingham, and The Kids Shop of Lucknow. Fashions this year are for every size of figure as well as children. As well, the Blyth Festival box office will be open to sell tickets and share information concerning the plays for the 1997 Summer Season. Advance tickets for Women's Day Out are on sale now at the following outlets: in Blyth - Stitches by M.J., Luann's Country Flowers; in Wingham - Lauretta's Hug and 1/2; in Lucknow - The Kids Shop or call 523-4366 or 523- 9725. Tickets purchased by April 4 will be entered in the early bird draw. The lucky recipient of this draw will be presented with their basket full of wonderful surprises on the day of the event. CDCS serves pancakes Over 500 people consumed thousands of pancakes, 350 pounds of sausages, 60 litres of ice cream, pitchers and pitchers of ice cream topping, and they washed it all down with scores of litres of pop and innumerable cups of coffee and tea. The items were prepared and served by students, staff and many volunteers at the Clinton and District Christian School (CDCS). The event, held on Friday, Feb. 28, was the annual pancake supper at CDCS. Parents, students, staff and friends stirred batter, flipped pancakes and fried sausages from 5 - 8 p.m. Afterwards there were games of skill for prizes in several of the classrooms. The proceeds of the supper went to the student fund, while those of the games went to kick start the fundraising efforts for next year’s Grade 7/8 Ottawa trip. Students are presently practising at noon and after school for the Woodstock District Basketball Tournament to be held in London on Saturday, March 22.
