In front, Lisa Kelly, left, and Jenni Jackson earned their Canada Cord. Each girl has been associated with the Girl Guides organization for nine years. In back, Erica Clark achieved the Gold Level, Duke of Edinburgh Award in the Young Canada Challenge. Clark has been a member for 12 years. Blyth council briefs Tax campaign continues Blyth council declined to support a resolution from the Association of Municipalities of Ontario at the Feb. 18 meeting. The resolution dealt with the preference of munici­ palities to fund education rather than social services, if there was an option. Reeve Mason Bailey said he Council considers Bainton request would contact the Organization of Small Urban Municipalities to ask that the resolution on education finance reform be discussed at their annual conference, at the end of Continued on page 17 THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 26,1997 PAGE 3. 12 skaters participate in interclub competition On Sunday, Feb. 16, 12 skaters from the Blyth Figure Skating Club took part in the Interclub "North" Figure Skating Competition. This competition was hosted by Stratford Skating Club with 14 area clubs competing. Two Blyth skaters participated in Recreational Elements in Isolation and all skaters entered in their Freeskate Program. Skaters who took part were Charlene Bromley, Meagan Campbell, Michelle Cook, Heather Elliott, Corrine Falconer, Jackie Falconer, Kristyn Gerth, Jamie Lewis, Mandy Mason, Robin Mason, Laura Meier and Melissa Snell. All had an excellent skate with many bringing home medals for their accomplishments. Winners were: high lady, Isabel Craig; high man, Graeme McDowell; ladies' lone hands, Ruth Shiells; men's lone hands, Bernice McClinchey; low lady, Ruth Jardin; low man, Evelyn Christensen; number of X for ladies, Grace Cartwright; number of X for men, Bill Craig. There were five tables of lost heir in play at Blyth Memorial Hall on Wednesday evening. Winners were: high lady, Feme McDowell; high gent, Graeme McDowell; low lady, Elaine Snell; low gent, Harold Cook. "I would do testing and sampling to determine what is going in and the cost effectiveness for both the business and the municipality." "Everything is running smoothly now. We don't want to upset the system. The amount of flow is not a concern, but what is in it." he said. Councillors agreed to permit a study, with the resulting informa­ tion reviewed before consideration would be given to a connection.
