Organ prelude with Nancy Park opened the service at Knox United at 10 a.m. on Feb. 16. Responsive reading was the worship invitation, followed by singing Were You There When They Crucified My Lord? Rev. Paul Ross then gave the announcements. The installation of the elected members of the stewards and induction of the new elders is to be held next Sunday. The UCW is combining Feb. and March meetings. It will be on March 3; an all-day quilting is to take place. A beverage and dessert will be supplied but bring a bag lunch for this day's work. Prayers were then given by Rev. Ross followed by singing the hymn Morning Has Broken. The children went to the front during the singing of Jesus Loves the Little Children. Out of the .mystery bag a picture of a rainbow was drawn. The minister then showed the children a framed picture of Noah's Ark and the rainbow shining. He spoke to them on the story and the meaning of rainbows. The hymn O Jesus, 1 have Promised was sung. Rev. Ross read the scripture from Genesis 9, where God spoke to Noah and told him that he would never again cause floods - the earth would not be destroyed by him. The rainbow is a remembrance of that covenant. From the New Testament Mark I, it was read that John Baptized Jesus. A spirit came from Heaven and God spoke of His Beloved Son. The hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful was sung, followed by the sermon. The topic was "Keeping Your Word". People must do the same as God, Rev. Ross said. "What we say we will do, we must do to the best of our ability. We must follow God's word. Prayers of thanks and concern followed. The Lord's Prayer was said in unison. The offering was then received, the doxology sung and offertory prayer given. The final hymn was Giver of the Perfect Gift followed by the Benediction and Amen. TOWNSHIP OF GREY PUBLIC MEETING CONCERNING A PROPOSED ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT UCW to give Easter baskets Continued from page 14 Joseph was rescued by a tribe and sold as a slave into Egypt. The pictures and narration were very good. A Bible quiz, not to be taken seriously, was then played with much laughter. The business opened with Margaret Bakker giving a thoughtful reading "Treasures through Eternity". The secretary report was then given and thank you cards read from Rev. and Mrs. Ross and from the Children's Aid. Treasurer Nancy Park said she would like to resign as treasurer. A new treasurer will have to be found to take her place. The card convener Grace Cartwright read thank you cards received from Isobel Turner and Don and Lois Haines, then gave her monthly report. Ruth Armstrong also gave thanks from the Community Care and gave a list of things needed. These include winter clothing for ages eight to 12, mainly underwear and socks. They also need balls and beach toys for the summer. Discussion arose regarding the display of community care articles. There was an excellent display at the Sunday School supper in 1996. The February meeting will be a quilting bee on Feb. 17. Tina Empey will be in charge. Easter baskets will be given again this year, Grace Cartwright, Kay Lapp and Maureen Bean will be in charge of this. A spring thankoffering may be had for the May meeting. Margaret Bakker treated the members with cheese, fruit breads and cold drinks throughout the business.
