Cty. talks cost Continued from page 14 than worrying about people who are breaking the law, he said, coun cillors should be supporting Gibson as their employee. Allan Gibson, reeve of Ashfield, said it was cost, not lack of notice, that caused a jump in the number of complaints. As long as township employees were cutting the weeds and billing it at cost, they were happy to pay to have the cutting done. When the township stopped doing the work and a private con tractor was hired at triple the cost, people began to complain. BUSINESS OPPS. GOVERNMENT FUNDS. Brussels pupils sell magazines By Eileen Exel and Derek Passmore We, at Brussels Public School, have been very busy with our magazine sales for Grade 4 and up to Grade 8. We have made almost $3,000 so far. We are very proud of the people who are participating. This money goes towards band supplies and repairs, fields trips, drama presentations, Blazer team shirts and other school projects and materials. Our primary students have been preparing for Valentine's Day. The kindergartens have been making Valentines with stencils for their parents, teachers and friends. The Grade 2s have been the busiest this week. They made valentine people made out of paper and snowflakes made out of pipe cleaners and styrofoam chips. They also learned sharing and caring rules sponsored by the Lions Club. The four rules are: be kind, take turns, listen to others, help one another. They were watching and measuring the narcissus flower loo. The Grade 2s are making bubble valentines. They were using dish soap, water and red food colouring. They then used a straw to blow in the cup to make the bubbles, then placed paper on the top of the cup and the bubbles left a red outline on the paper. It was a very beautiful pattern.
