Hagedoorn, 887-6270 and M. Saxon, 887-9287 Hall’s future concerns resident Twelve tables were hosted by the Cranbrook Hall Board last Friday night. The next euchre party will be held on Friday, Feb. 14 at 8:30 p.m. admission is $2. Peter Hagedoorn, president, expressed his concerns. "Is Cranbrook Community Hall a thing of the past? The annual meeting of the hall board of Cranbrook Community Centre was held on Feb. 5. Attendance was very poor (exactly five members of the community attended). Hagedoorn said, "It seems that in Cranbrook at least, the community hall is not an important part of the community any more. It is increasingly difficult to make the hall pay for itself, as rentals, donations and grants are dwindling. Fundraising activities generally are done by six hall board members and their families without the involvement of other members of the community. Euchre parties which used to be profitable are not cost effective and the costs of hall maintenance are higher than ever. Unless the community starts taking an interest, Cranbrook Community Hall will be a thing of the past." The new executive for the hall board was introduced by Hage doorn. Marg Saxon is secretary treasurer, Sharon Evans and Frank Workman will continue their term of office. Sheila Terpstra and Murray Keffer were welcomed as new executive members. Councillor Graeme McDonald presented a cheque for Library maintenance on behalf of Grey Twp. The hall board will meet again to determine the future of euchre parties and fundraisers. The "Kids' Club" (children ages five to 14) will be meeting at the Cranbrook Community Centre on Friday, Feb. 14 from 7 until 8 p.m. in the Library Room to make crafts. Bring 50 cents to offset costs. time. (To attain a Canadian qualifying time, the time must be within 12 per cent of the national record for that age group.) Cayli raced in the second youngest category, finishing 11th out of 15 racers. She made a per sonal best with 21.43 (23.22) in the 111 metre event.
