How­ ever, that is where the outward appearance of tradition ended. "It was a biker wedding," says Marg Saxon. "It was something new for our side of the family and it was a shock it was happening in our backyard. However, we jumped in with both feet and everything came out very well." The pair, engaged in January, had only five months to plan the out­ door wedding. "This was a family wedding which made it great," she says. The community hall, which is next to the Saxons' backyard was rented and beautifully decorated, "after I got out of there," she laughs. Family members and biker friends arrived, with many pitching tents in the yard and bikes parked all around. "We were hoping to have a bike parade through Brussels after the ceremony, but there just wasn't enough time. Many of us had never been on a bike and everyone want­ ed a ride, even in our wedding clothes." The wedding meal was also somewhat unique, with neighbours helping to serve morsels of the barbecued pig to 100 guests. "Everyone had a good time," says Saxon. Though the ceremony went off with barely a hitch, there were a few pre-wedding problems. The first arose when Laura and Sandy tried to locate a minister. Not living in the community, not affiliated with any local churches, and wanting to write their own vows, the couple had difficulty finding someone to officiate.
