Speaker tells children
reduce, reuse, recycle
An assembly was held last Week
at EWPS to teach the children the
importance of recycling entitled
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. A speaker
from Bluewater Recycling showed
a video and answered questions.
Recycling containers will be
placed in all classrooms thanks to
the Shell Environmental Fund.
Glass, plastic, aluminum and
cardboard will be collected, sorted
and recycled. Everyone can help by
attempting to send litterless lunches
to school.
28 play euchre at WI Hall
There were seven tables of
euchre in play at the Women's
Institute on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
Winners were: high lady, Viola
Adams; second high lady, Iona
McLean; lone hands, Lois
Schneider; low lady, Marie
Stewart; high man, Ross Taylor;
second high man, Lloyd Appleby;
lone hands, George Inglis; low
man, Ruth Johnston (playing as a

Mabel's Moms met at their
regular time on Wednesday, Jan.
29. Those who attended were Kim
Higgins and Laura, Linda Hess and
Andrew, Elaine Scott and Peyton,
Alice Yuill and Brianna. Their
discussions were related to the
Girl Guides camp out
Belgrave Girl Guides enjoyed a
fun-filled weekend at the
Wawanosh Nature Centre. Over the
course of the weekend they enjoyed
activities such as doing the weather
Morning Star meets
The January meeting of Morning
Star Rebekah met in the lodge hall
with a good attendance.
Sister Laura Barbour Noble
Grand presided over this meeting.
A number of thank you notes
were read from Sisters who had
received Christmas boxes. A num
ber of members were reported ill.
They are wished a speedy recovery.
The Noble Grand reported the
food hamper was taken to the
Salvation Army. Donations were
given to the Durham Flood Victims
and also to Western Star Lodge.
Sister Rene Richmond, District
Deputy President paid her visit to
The Grades 5-8 will be bused to
Talisman on Feb. 6 to ski and
snowboard. Their trip was partially
subsidized by the Ladies' Auxiliary
of the Royal Canadian Legion from

The annual Public Speaking
contest for students from Grades 4 -
8 will be held in the gymnasium on
Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 9 a.m.
Winners will advance to the Legion
competition to be held on Saturday,
Feb. 22 at the Legion in Wingham.
Parents and friends are welcome
to join to listen to the speeches.

Greeting worshippers at Knox
United Church on Sunday, Feb. 2,

Marilyn Robertson from
Walkerton shared her ministry with
the congregation. Onward
Christian Soldiers and The
Butterfly Song were sung by the
congregation for songtime. Silent
meditation followed the Call to
Worship and the Prayer of
Approach. The hymn of praise was
Stand Up and Bless the Lord with
the Prayer of Confession following.
The senior choir of mixed voices
sang One Prayer, One Song
accompanied by Elizabeth Procter
at the piano.
The scripture reading was taken
from Genesis 12: 1-8.
The children's hymn was Teach
Me Day By Dayv The children
gathered in the front pews for story
time. Mrs. Robertson asked them
how they were enjoying the winter

The sermon was based on a good
Samaritan at the well. "We all have
a well inside that could last a
lifetime," Mrs. Robertson said.
"Faith is gained in risking
everything. Thirst for abundant life
is activated when we drink God's
love. We all need water to survive.
Jesus is the waler of our life. God is
the source of the living water that
quenches our souls."
Tim Robinson and Ken Procter
were the offertory stewards. The
offertory song was All That I Am.
The Prayers of the People was
followed by The Lord's Prayer
with the closing hymn being Love
Divine, All Loves Excelling and the
commissioning "Three Fold
Amen".
"Go Now In Peace" brought the
service to a close.
Tracey Robinson and Ruth
Haines were in charge of the
nursery.
On Friday, Feb. 7 a "Skate-a-
Thon" will be held from 4 p.m. - 9
p.m. at the Belgrave Arena. This is
a project of the Joint Board of
Stewards to help raise money to
pay down the principal on the
manse mortgage. Pledge sheets are
available from the back of the
church, members of the Stewards
and Rev. Mary Jane Hobdcn.
