B elgraveThe news from Compiled by Linda Campbell Phone 357-2188 Speaker tells children reduce, reuse, recycle An assembly was held last Week at EWPS to teach the children the importance of recycling entitled Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. A speaker from Bluewater Recycling showed a video and answered questions. Recycling containers will be placed in all classrooms thanks to the Shell Environmental Fund. Glass, plastic, aluminum and cardboard will be collected, sorted and recycled. Everyone can help by attempting to send litterless lunches to school. 28 play euchre at WI Hall There were seven tables of euchre in play at the Women's Institute on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Winners were: high lady, Viola Adams; second high lady, Iona McLean; lone hands, Lois Schneider; low lady, Marie Stewart; high man, Ross Taylor; second high man, Lloyd Appleby; lone hands, George Inglis; low man, Ruth Johnston (playing as a Friends visit residents Rob and Judy Nicholson of Listowel visited on Sunday with Gamer and Alice Nicholson. The annual Public Speaking contest for students from Grades 4 - 8 will be held in the gymnasium on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 9 a.m. Winners will advance to the Legion competition to be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Legion in Wingham. Silent meditation followed the Call to Worship and the Prayer of Approach. The hymn of praise was Stand Up and Bless the Lord with the Prayer of Confession following. The senior choir of mixed voices sang One Prayer, One Song accompanied by Elizabeth Procter at the piano. The scripture reading was taken from Genesis 12: 1-8. "We all have a well inside that could last a lifetime," Mrs. Robertson said. "Faith is gained in risking everything. Thirst for abundant life is activated when we drink God's love. We all need water to survive. Jesus is the waler of our life. God is the source of the living water that quenches our souls." Tim Robinson and Ken Procter were the offertory stewards. The offertory song was All That I Am. The Prayers of the People was followed by The Lord's Prayer with the closing hymn being Love Divine, All Loves Excelling and the commissioning "Three Fold Amen". "Go Now In Peace" brought the service to a close. Tracey Robinson and Ruth Haines were in charge of the nursery. On Friday, Feb. 7 a "Skate-a- Thon" will be held from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Belgrave Arena. This is a project of the Joint Board of Stewards to help raise money to pay down the principal on the manse mortgage.
