LEWIS FREDERICK COOK
Lewis Cook of Belgrave died at
Seaforth and District Hospital on
Monday, Jan. 13, 1997. He was 93.
He is survived by his wife Vema
of Braemar Retirement Centre,
Wingham, his sons Eldon and
Lorraine Cook of RR 1, Belgrave,
and Bob and Patricia Cook of
Shelbumc. He is also survived by
six grandchildren, 13 great
grandchildren and two great-great-
grandchildren.
Mr. Cook was predeceased by
two infant sons, his parents
Frederick and Maude Cook, his
brother Stanley Cook and sisters
Lila Black and Mary Buchanan.
Visitation was at McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on
Tuesday from 2-4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the
funeral home on Wednesday
(today) at 3 p.m. Rev. Mary-Jane
Hobden will officiate.
Interment will be in Wingham
Cemetery.
Memorial donations to
Alzheimer's Society, Diabetes
Society or Belgrave United Church
would be appreciated as expres
sions of sympathy.
ALBERT EARL COOK
Albert Earl Cook passed away at
Wingham and District Hospital on
Jan. 1, 1997 in his 80th year.
He was the beloved husband of
Jean McCallum. He is survived by
his family: Jim and Fay Cook,
Owen Sound, Murray and Terri
Cook, Ashfield and Bonnie Palmer,
Goderich. He was the dear brother
of Alice and Garner Nicholson,
Belgrave; Margaret Robinson;
Zella and Ernest Crawford; Edith
and Jack Walker, Goderich, and
brother-in-law of Grace Cook,
Huronviewv Clinton. Also
surviving are seven grandchildren:
Avia, Alycia and Jonathon Cook;
Chris, Charlie and Cory Palmer and
Ricky Cook.
He was predeceased by his
parents, Fred and Etta (Black)
Cook, and a brother Harvey in
1973.
Albert was a member of the
former Belgrave Pipe Band and
later of Brussels Legion Pipe Band.
He was a member of Knox United
Church, Belgrave and a long-time
member of L.O.L. 462 Belgrave.
Funeral service was at McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on
Saturday, Jan. 4 at 1:30 p.m. Rev.
Mary Jane Hobden, minister of
Belgrave United Church, officiated.
Family tribute was read by Clifford
Coultes.
Honourary pallbearers were John
Taylor, Gordon Bosman, Clifford
Coultes, Les Shaw, Bill Nethery
and George Michie.
Final tribute was Amazing Grace
with bag pip music.
Interment will be at Brandon
Cemetery, Belgrave.
MARY ALICE VAN CAMP
Mary Alice Van Camp passed
away at Clinton Hospital on
Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997 at age 79.
She was the daughter of the late
James and Hattie Van Camp. Mary
is survived by a sister, Irene Yates,
of London, and two nieces, Jane
Piche of Waterloo, and Susan Budd
of Mississauga.
The funeral service was held at
Exeter United Church on Jan. 10
with interment in Blyth Cemetery.
Mary was born on the sixth
concession of East Wawanosh
Twp., but the family moved to
Exeter shortly afterwards.
However, many summers were
spent in the Belgrave area with an
aunt and uncle, Jane and John T.
Coultes.
Mary worked in a secretarial
position at the Parliament
Buildings in Ottawa until poor
health forced an early retirement.
She had been a resident of
Huronview, Clinton for several
years.
STEWART THOMAS
RANSOME
Stewart Ransome of Wroxeter
passed away suddenly at his
residence on Jan. 2, 1997 at the age
of one year seven months.
Stewart was the beloved son of
Ken and Sandra Ransome of
Wroxeter. He was the loving
brother of Ashleigh, Bruce, Robert
and Steven Ransome and the loved
grandson of Bruce and Peggy
Ransome of Port Elgin, Marion
Ransome of Port Elgin and the late
Ian and Gail Stewart. Stewart will
be missed by 15 aunts and uncles
and 11 cousins.
He rested at the house of Ken and
Sandra Ransome, RR 1, Lot 10,
Cone. 14 of Howick Twp., from
9 a.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral service was 2 p.m. Mon
day, Jan. 6 at the North Howick
Meeting House, Clifford.
Interment is at North Howick
Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Unveiled
After seven years of indepth research, two history books — Reflections of West Wawanosh
and A History of West Ashfield — were officially launched on Dec. 20. Schools in West

DOUG HOLT
Doug Holt of Fordwich passed
away on Friday, Jan. 3, 1997 at the
Fordwich Village Nursing Home,
Fordwich in his 90th year.
He was the beloved uncle of
Phyllis Haverfield of Fordwich and
Maxine Lynn of Orillia. Mr. Holt
rested at the Betts Visitation Centre,
Gorrie from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Sunday. Funeral service was held at
1 p.m. Monday from the Betts
Visitation Centre, Gorrie.
Rev. Brad Beale officiated at the
service.
Honourary pallbearers were:
John Bolander, Don Bolander, Paul
Potorak, Bob Campbell, Lloyd
Nickel and Bill Magill.
Spring interment will be at
Fordwich Cemetery.
In remembrance donations to the
Trinity Anglican Church, Fordwich
would be appreciated by the family.
LUELLA ELIZABETH
CLARKE
Luella Elizabeth (Betty) Clarke
passed away in Meadowcroft
Retirement Home in Mississauga
on Monday, Jan. 6 in her 93rd year.
She was the former Luella Fulton
of Walton and was predeceased by
her loving husband, Herbert M.
Clarke, daughter Mary'Elizabeth
and sister, Ada Armstrong of
Brussels.
A memorial service will be held
on Saturday, April 19 in Toronto.
