Rev. Ross speaks to WI
The Christmas meeting of
Londesboro WI was held at the hall
on Monday, Dec. 16. It began at
12:30 p.m. with a pot luck meal.
Lois welcomed everyone.
Rev. Paul Ross was the guest
speaker. He told the history of the
12 Days of Christmas.
Roll call was answered with a
Christmas recipe exchange. Lois
and Leita gave readings. Lois had a
contest on Christmas carols.
Bosmans light candle
Greeters at Londesboro United
Church on Sunday, Dec. 22 were
Elgin and Joy Penfound. Ushers
were Jason Hoggart and Darryl
Bergsma. The Advent Candle was
lit by the Bosman family. The choir
sang an anthem.
Rev. Ross's sermon topic was
"Changing Plans".
The Christmas Eve service was
held at the church at 7:30 p.m.
The Advent Candle was lit by the
Konarski family. Those reading
were Marilyn Archambault,
Marjorie Duizer, Ken Scott and
Jenn Mercer. The mediation was
"The Gift of Bread".
Greeters at church on Sunday,
Dec. 29 were Milton and Helen
Dale. Ushers were Mel and Chris
Knox.
The sermon topic was "A
Christmas Story". A Happy New
Reta gave the minutes of the
November meeting. These were
approved. Reta gave the financial
report. A card was signed for Annie
Kroesen.
A thank you for the donation to
FWIO was received. A donation
was made to the Lions Club for use
of the hall.
A gift exchange ended the
meeting.
Year to everyone.
Greeters at church on Sunday,
Jan. 5 were Jack and Helen Lee.
Ushers were Trevor and Cheryl
Trewartha.
Shannon Scott sang a lovely solo,
accompanied by Kimberly
Schedler.
The sermon topic was "The Other
Wise Man". The annual meeting of
the church is Feb. 10.
Holy Communion is next Sun
day. Choir practice is at 10:15 p.m.
Jan. 12 and Jan. 19.
People
The sympathy of the community
is extended to Josephine MacGre
gor and Don and Kittie MacGregor
on the passing of a husband and
father Gordon MacGregor.
Clubs meet
The Christmas meeting of the
Cheerio Club was held on
Wednesday, Dec. 18. There was a
lunch at the Hillcrest Restaurant,
then members proceeded to the
home of Audrey Thompson for the
meeting. They had a gift exchange.
Jan. 20 is the UCW meeting and
dessert at 1:30 p.m. The theme will
be on talents. Members are to bring
their winter crafts to show and
share with a friend.
Auburn decorates
Like most towns Auburn was
beautifully decorated for the Christ
mas season. The Lions Club had a
home decorations contest and the
judges had a difficult time choosing
a winner. The final decision was
first, Wayne Carter; second,
Richard Baechler and third, Hielke
Roetiscoender. Congratulations.
Decorated farm homes were
numerous and lovely in the rural
area. One special one was a star on
the top of a silo on a sideroad not
far from the village. It was
delightful to see.
On Jan. 2 Martha Daer went to
Goderich Place, Goderich for a
month's holiday. The community
wishes her a wonderful vacation.
The Commitment Sunday for the
"Faith By Hearing" of the Canadian
Bible Society will be at the Auburn
United Church on Sunday, Jan. 12.
Sacrament of Holy Communion
will also be held next Sunday.
The Auburn UCW will meet at
the church on Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. May
the New Year be started with good
attendance.
Submissions for Knox annual
church reports must be given to
Rev. Ross or Harry Lear by Jan. 19.

Crowd fills United Church
On Dec. 22 at 7:30 p.m. the
Community Christmas Service was
held at Auburn United Church with
the Aubum Evangelical Missionary
Church as the host. Many area
churches participated. There was a
packed choir and an overflowing
church.
Jeremy Stuart, associate pastor of
Huron Chapel, gave the call to
worship then welcomed everyone to
the service. Pastor James Came, of
the Aubum Chapel then led in the
singing of Christmas carols. Hark,
the Herald Angels Sing and Silent
Night. He followed this with prayer.
Rev. Stephen Huntley of Bly th
United Church read scripture from
Isaiah 9, concerning the child, the
Prince of Peace, who was to be
bom and would be able to carry the
burdens of this world.
The massed choir then favoured
with several carol selections and led
the congregation in singing Joy to
the World and How Great Our Joy.

Knox celebrates Christmas
Organ prelude with Bernice
Gross, organist, opened the worship
service at Knox United Church on
Jan. 5 at 10 a.m. Invitation to
Worship based on Isaiah 60 was led
by Rev. Paul Ross and the
Luke 1. The angel came to the
virgin Mary and told her that God
would give her a son, and she
accepted this news. From Luke 2
he read where Joseph and Mary, his
wife went to pay taxes at
Bethlehem. Jesus was bom there.
Shepherds heard of this and came
to see and then told everyone of
this wonderful event.
The sermon was given by the
minister of Blyth Church of God,
Leslie Cook on "Looking For
ward". It is not good for one to live
in the past. People must go into this
world working for the future as
God would have them do. God's
light is there to follow.
The offering which would be
given to the Canadian Bible
Society was then received followed
by the offertory and prayer.
Redeeming Love was the final carol
for the evening. Benediction was
given and Pastor Came invited
everyone to the lower auditorium
for fellowship and refreshments.
