United minister says 'Turn to Jesus'
Continued from page 16
images. Yet repentance is good
news. It is the vehicle by which to
turn to the Good News which is
Jesus Christ. Repentance provides
the. opportunity to begin again and
to take charge of one's life and be
authoritative.
John told the people of his day to
change, saying, "Prepare a road in
the wilderness and make a straight
path." Rev. Huntley said, John had
in mind military engineers who
were called "sappers". These
engineers or sappers would literally
go on ahead of a King, who was
travelling, making the road smooth
and straight for the King to travel
upon. "We are called to be modern
day sappers, to straighten our path,
making the road ready for King
Jesus."
In conclusion Rev. Huntley said
"If you are confused, troubled or
depressed this Christmas season,
turn to Jesus."
Among the many beautiful
flowers decorating the sanctuary
were poinsettias placed by Don and
Lenore Scrimgeour; also the red
carnation was placed in memory of
Earl Caldwell and Karl Ulch by
Randy and Lorna Fraser and
family.
In hospital are Bill Manning in
Goderich and Les Rutledge in St.
Joseph's, London.
The Christmas Eve service is at
7 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend
the candlelight carol service.
