group meets every Tuesday afternoon from 1 p.m. to 3
p.m. throughout the winter for some friendly competition.
More participants are eagerly sought for the draw which
begins after the Christmas break.

A sprawling effort

Brussels Tykes B champs
Blyth Tykes had to settle for a
loss and a tie in last week's hockey
action.
Meeting Hensall in an away
game, Dec. 13, the Tykes missed a
close one, losing 4-2. Scoring for
Blyth were Jonathan McDowell
and Richard Greg, who also fac-
tored in on the McDowell goal with
an assist.
Between the pipes was Devin
Jenkins.

The Blyth PeeWee Bs trounced a
visiting Elma-Logan team 6-1 on
Dec. 13.
Scoring for Blyth were Rob
Archambault, with a hattrick, Mar-
tin Sturzenegger, Matt Bromley
and Devin Shannon.

Shawn Henry and Andrew
McCabe.
PeeWee Reps
down Clinton
After a solid 8-5 victory against
Mitchell on Dec. 9, the Blyth Pee-
WeeReps came on even stronger in
a Dec. 14 matchup against Clinton.
While shutting down their hosts,
the Blyth squad netted seven goals.
Jeremy Austin led the way with a
hattrick, while Craig Marks, Shaun
Henry, Derek Cook and Luke
Slotegraff each tallied one. Assists
went to Matt Bromley, Scott Austin
and Mike Beinard.

at the Arthur and Area Community
Centre at 8:30 p.m. will feature
Goderich, Clinton, Brussels, Wiar-
ton and Ripley in the West against
Arthur, Shelburne, Drayton and
Palmerston in the East.
Admission to the game will be $4
for adults, $3 for teens and seniors
and children, free.
After a commanding win against
Elma-Logan on Wednesday night
the Brussels Tykes went on to win
"B" champs in the Monkton Tyke
tourney.
Wednesday night's game was a
blow out against Elma-Logan. Jake
VanBeek in net for Brussels made
some awesome saves to get
Brussels an 11 - 1 win. Scoring for
Brussels with eight goals was Chris
Corbett, assists going to Lance
Stafford with four, William King
with four, Tyler Dietner, Zack
Hoegy, Ryan Jutzi with two, Jordan
Campbell and Andrew Baker with
two.
Also scoring for Brussels was
Lance Stafford with his first goal,
assisted by C. Corbett and W.
King, Christopher Jutzi with his
first goal assisted by Alyssa
Gowing and Chase Chapman, and
Adam Corbett assisted by Jordan
Campbell and Wade Stevenson.
The team put a good all around
effort into this game.
The Tykes played against Exeter
Friday night in the Elma
tournament, taking a 6-5 loss in
overtime play. Shane Gibson put
the first goal on the board for
Brussels with an assist from Jutzi.
Corbett put in three for Brussels
with two assists from Stafford.
Corbett put the other goal in for
Brussels unassisted.
Overtime was played. with no
goalie. The Brussels kids put in a
great effort but could not get it out
of their end, so went to the "B"
side.
Bulls win
Brussels Bulls fans had to travel
to see their team play this week.
The Bulls had only one game,
Friday evening in Hanover against
the Barons. The outcome was a 4-3
victory for the visiting Bulls.
Game two was played at 11 a.m.
Saturday against Elma-Logan.
Brussels won 7 - 3. Goals were
scored by C. Corbett with four, A.
Corbett with two, assisted by Tom
Cronin and Jutzi, and Wade
Stevenson with his first goal,
assisted by A. Corbett.
Game three was played at 5 p.m.
against Minto. Brussels won 8 - 5.
Corbett scoring 7 assisted by Zach
Hoegy, Mathew Souch and King.
Corbett scored one goal assisted by
Campbell.
Game 4 was played at 7 p.m.
against Goderich White. With
Brussels down 4 - 0 nine minutes
into the first, it didn't look good.
The players were very tired, but
Jutzi found a hole and put in his
first of two goals to get Brussels on
the board, assists went to-Alyssa
Gowing and Gibson.
With the game at 4-1 Corbett
took to the ice and put in two goals
unassisted. With Brussels back in
the game in the second period A.
Corbett put in two goals assisted by
Cronin and Stevenson. Jutzi scored
his second assisted by Chapman
and Baker. C. Corbett finished off
the scoring with four more goals
assisted by Tyler Dietner and
Stafford, for 10 - 7 win for
Brussels.
In net for Brussels for all four
games was VanBeek, who made
numerous saves including a couple
of glove saves in the air. All of the
Tykes played like a true winning
team bringing home the "B"
championship.
VanBeek also earned the MVP
award for the Brussels team.
