Merry Christmas from the Homecoming Committee Brussels Country Inn Brussels 887-9035 VILLAGE OF BRUSSELS PUBLIC NOTICE PUBLIC NAME CHANGES SECTION 210(111) OF THE MUNICIPAL ACT, R.S.O. 1990 Notice Is hereby given that Brussels Council intends to pass a by-law to change the name of public roads which have been previously named. The public road name changes are intended to facilitate the County-wide municipal addressing system which is required to be in place prior to the implementation of the 9-1-1 Emergency Response System for ambulance, fire and police services throughout the County of Huron. The proposed street name changes are as follows: 1) Thomas Street, from Turnberry Street, west to the Morris Township border will be changed to King Street 2) John Street, from Mary to Alexander will be changed to Mechanics Street 3) Anne Street, from the Maitland River, north to Queen intersection will be changed to Stretton Street. 4) Queen Street between Halliday Street and Mill Street (County Road 16) will be changed to Halliday Street. The winners of this festive sea- son's best decorated house in the village are Wallace and Jean Bell of Elizabeth St. Judges said the candy colours and Santa theme blend nicely with the cottage-style home. "It was evi- Highland Apts. news A farewell surprise party was held in the Highland apartments front entry last week to say goodbye to Jim Mair who is moving to Caledonia to be near his family. There was a short program of readings, music, and a skit. Lunch and visiting brought the enjoyable meeting to a close. A memorial service was held in Huronlea Chapel by the Salvation Army, Wingham, for the late Dennis Ashby, who passed away in University Hospital on Dec. 1. His body was taken to Montreal for burial. DECEMBER 27 & 28 BAYSIDE BLUE BAND At the Majestic Women's Institute December card party, seven tables of cards were played. Campbell leads worship A Communion Service was held at Brussels Mennonite Fellowship on Sunday, Dec. 15. Linda Campbell was worship leader and Mark Hiller led the congregational singing with Anne Hemingway playing the piano. Darlene Hemmingway ministered through song. Elwin Garland and Carl Siemon addressed the congregation. The Ladies' Fellowship group will meet Thursday, Dec. 19 at the church for the Christmas meeting. Judges acknowledged the efforts of all the homeowners who deco- rated, saying the selection was not an easy one. "There were many beautiful homes brightening our village for Christmas." BRUSSELS HISTORY BOOK NOTICE TO BRUSSELS BUSINESSES We are in the process of finalizing a list of businesses for the Brussels History Book. Those businesses who have paid business tax in 1996 have been included. However it Is felt that many businesses both in and beyond the village limits along with contractors and home occupations play an important part in the history of Brussels even though they are not listed on the assessment roll. We are also interested in information about businesses that operated In the past. Please contact the Municipal Office by December 30, 1996 if you would like to have your business/occupation included.
