Swinging Seniors meet at Hall The Blyth Swinging Seniors met in the Memorial Hall on Nov. 27 at noon for their annual Christmas dinner. About 44 people sat down to a delicious meal catered to by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Legion. After dinner President Laurence Plaetzer opened the business meeting. All sang 0 Canada with Phyllis Boak at the piano. Janet Lawrie thanked the Ladies Auxiliary for the lovely dinner and Mildred Ament replied. Happy Birthday was sung to Catherine Caldwell, Reg Schultz and John Blake for their November birthdays. The usual reports were given. It was decided to give a donation to the Palliative Care in Wingham and the Clinton Day Care. The president, Laurence called Continued on nave 27 Gift Giving Ideas Blyth People Alvin and Gene Snell hosted a 50th birthday party for their daughter-in-law, Deanna at their home Sunday, Dec. 1. Family members attended from Aylmer, Clinton, London, Blyth, and Wingham. The neighbours of Jim Mason wish him a speedy recovery from his fall, and that he'll be home soon. There were seven tables of euchre at Blyth Hall Nov. 25. Winners were: high lady, Lillian Appleby; high man, Lloyd Appleby; low lady, Anna DeJong; low man, Mr. Konarski; ladies' lone hands, Carol Daer; men's lone hands, John Hesselwood. - A Blyth man has done his part to make Christmas a little more spe- cial for some youngsters. John Glousher, a resident of Queen's Village, has been saving the yellow ribbons off cigarette packages. For every bunch of 33 the cigarette company will donate a teddy bear to children who are in hospital. Glousher sent in over 1,000 last week.
