Kellingtons
celebrate
anniversary
It was an affair for family and
friends when Bill and Gertie
(Riley) Kellington of Brussels cele-
brated their 50th wedding anniver-
sary, recently.
The pair were wed Nov. 15,
1946, at Trinity Church, Sebring-
ville. Rev. Maurice Farr officiated
while Bill and Mima Farr, sister of
the bride and her husband stood as
witnesses.
Kellingtons are the proud parents
of six children, Larry and Bonnie
Kellington of Springfield, Joyce
and Don Jacklin of Brussels, Bob
and Nadine Kellington of Stratford,
Murray and Stephanie Kellington
of Brussels, Brian and Donna
Kellington of Belgrave and Kevin
and Rose Kellington of Brussels
and 13 grandchildren.
Though both retired, the Kelling-
tons are very active in community
organizations. Mrs. Kellington is a
member of Brussels United Church
choir, the afternoon unit of the
UCW, BMG Catering group,
Rebekahs, Ladies Encampment
Auxiliary (LEA), First Militant of
London and is a volunteer at the
Brussels Thrift Shop. Mr. Kelling-
ton keeps busy with the IOOF,
Rebekahs, LEA and Encampment
and Cantons.
Special guests at the celebration
held at Brussels United Church
were Jim and Pat Davies of Lucan
and Mima Fan as well as guests
from Exeter, Stratford, Staffa,
Seaforth, Mitchell, Hensall, Credi-
ton, Blyth , Belgrave and London.

quality public education will
further divide our society into those
who can afford to purchase the
necessary resources for use and
home and those who cannot afford
to do so. In the past 15 years the
technological revolution has
already created much wider rifts
between the have and the have-not
kids. If the schools can no longer
have the mission of acting as a
"levelling agent" that provides
these opportunities for all kids, this
rift will widen even further.
The validity of the test results
given the inclusiveness of Ontario
schools as compared to highly
homogeneous school populations in
other countries, is highly in
question. Mr. Snobelen is simply
using his version of the test results
to give him political grist for his
mill. A Minister of Education
wanting to brag about his system
could turn the statistics to play
another tune.
Teachers of Ontario and teachers
world-wide would say that Ontario
has a quality education system.
Educators need clear direction from
the Minister and the resources and
teachers to do the job. We do not
need vague statements and public
relations gimmicks!
