Guest talks of Switzerland
Welcoming worshippers as they
entered Knox United Church,
Belgrave on Sunday, Nov. 3 were
Glen and Verlaine Van Camp, who
also handed out Service of
Worship.
Elizabeth Procter played many
familiar hymns on the organ, prior
to song time.
Rev. Mary Jane Hobden opened
the service with the Call to,
Worship and Prayer of Confession
D. Jardin graduates
in unison. The congregation sang
hymn of praise, Come Down, 0
Love Divine.
The choir of mixed voices
resounded in Room in God's Love.
Anne Spivey read scripture verses
from Joshua 3 (7-17) which was
followed by the hymn Jesus,
Teacher and Friend.
The children congregated in the
front pews for children's time. Rev.
Mary Jane Hobden explained that

Pastor explains All Saints Day
The regular meeting of the
Belgrave Community Club was
held on Nov. 1 with 25 members
present.
The meeting opened the singing
of Oh Canada. The minutes of the
previous meeting were read and
adopted. The treasurer's report was
given and adopted. Jack Van Camp
reported on the activities of the
Community Centre Board and
distributed financial reports of the
board.
It was decided that the Christmas
party would be the December
meeting. It was announced that the
Christmas dinner tickets were now
available.
The only birthday recognized
was Annie Cook's in October. The
following anniversaries were
recognized: Garner and Alice
Nicholson in October, Lloyd and
There were 10 tables of euchre in
play at the Women's Institute Hall
on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Winners were: high lady, Lillian
Appleby; second high lady, Lois
Chamney; lone hands, Marcie
Merkley; low lady, Ada Taylor;
The October meeting of Happy
Gang Seniors was held at the Hall
on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Members
sang Grace, then enjoyed a pot luck
dinner.
They opened the meeting with
O Canada.
Guest speaker, Tammy Bernard,
works at Huronview. She spoke on
Homecare for Huron County.
Mrs. Bosman's Grade 2 class
presented some Halloween
entertainment with the song 12
Days of Halloween.
The minutes of the September
meeting were read. The financial
report was given by Reta.
Reta gave a report on fixing the
Hoggarts usher
Greeters at Londesboro United
Church on Sunday, Nov. 3 were
Don and Kitty MacGregor. Ushers
were Don Allen and Larry Hoggart.
Shannon Scott sang. The sermon
topic was "Wanted — A Good
Leader".
TGIF pot luck supper is at the
church Friday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
The senior choir practice is
10:15 a.m. Nov. 10 and Nov. 17.
People
Sympathy of the community is
extended to Carl and Lena Nesbitt
on the passing of Carl's stepfather,
Richard Weatherhead.
Lillian Appleby and George and
Doris Michie in November.
The program committee was
granted a budget of $50 for the
Christmas party.
Mabel Wheeler gave a synopsis
of the seniors games held at Exeter
last June. The 1997 games will be
held on June 16 and 17. A donation
of $25 is to be sent to the Seniors
Day Centre in Wingham.
Shuffleboard is to start Thursday,
Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m.
At this point in the meeting,
Barbara Anderson introduced Bob
Gordon, who gave an interesting
talk on his trip to Switzerland last
summer. Alice Nicholson thanked
Bob for his most interesting talk.
There will be a shoot party on
Dec. 13, then not again until Jan.
10/97.
The meeting adjourned to meet
again on Jan. 3.

Friends and family wish to
congratulate Darryl Jardin, son of
Harold and Nancy. Darryl
graduated from a two-year course
as a Forestry Technician at the fall
convocation of Sir Sanford Fleming
College in Peterboro. He is
presently continuing his education
at the same college enrolled in a
one-year Law Enforcement
program.
Congratulations Darryl.
The first meeting of the 1996-97
school Advisory Council was held
at East Wawanosh Public School
on Oct. 17. A new executive was
put into place at this meeting. It is:
chair, Ron Cook; vice-chair, Doug
Walker; secretary, Kathy McCrac-
ken; treasurer, Social Committee.
The next meeting is Wednesday,
Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. Attendance is
appreciated.

Kung-Fu
returns to
school
Kung-Fu is back in the East
Wawanosh Public School. Jim
Keller is teaching classes on
Monday and Wednesday evenings,
starting Monday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.
Parents who had children in
public school eight years -ago know
Jim and his qualifications. Former
students such as Harry and Lynda
Train or Dave Hodgins when asked
would give a fair appraisal of Jim's
teaching skills. Jim is looking
forward to meeting new students as
well as welcoming any of th'
former students back who woulc
like to resume their training. For
those new to this experience, Jim
thinks you will be pleasantly
surprised.
Sincere sympathy is extended to
Lyle and Kathy Campbell and
family in the loss of their infant
daughter, Kelsey Joanne. May your
thoughts and prayers be with them
at this their time of sorrow.
Congratulations to Ruth,Haines,
an employee at the Toronto
Dominion Bank in Wingham, who
was a recent recipient of the bank
award of excellence, one of 80 such
employees honoured across
Canada.
The East Wawanosh Public
School Grade 7 students will be
looking after the Remembrance
Day Assembly. It is on Nov. 11 at
11 a.m. to which everyone is
welcome. It will include poems and
scripture readings, stories and a
silent meditation time.
Halloween was the night before
"All Saints Day". She asked them
what saints they knew and they
.replied fittingly. People who
believe in God are saints and you
could still make mistakes and be a
saint, she said. A saint is someone
who lets God shine through them
like a stained glass window. She
illustrated with a suncatcher and a
lighted candle, letting the light
shine through.
The children went downstairs
after the children's prayer.
Responsive Psalm 107, 1-7; 33-
37 was followed by Gospel reading
from Matthew 23: 1-12 read by
Anne Spivey.
The congregation sang All My
Hope, followed by the minister's
sermon which focused on All
Saints Day.
Stewards taking up the offering
were Ken Procter and Tim
Robinson. This was followed by
the singing of the offertory song All
That 1 Am. The Lord's Prayer,
followed by the closing hymn
Saviour Like a Shepherd brought
the service to a close.
Just a reminder that the Knox
beef supper is Wednesday, Nov. 13
with sittings at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
