Blyth council briefs Baintons donate salt Blyth will realize a small savings in keeping the streets clean this winter after a donation by a local business. Franklin Snell of Bainton Ltd. asked council, at the Oct. 22 meet- ing, if the village would be interest- ed in an average 10 to 12 tonnes of salt which is used for the shipping of hides to the mill. (The total could range up to 50 tonnes). Though the cost of disposal is min- imal, Snell said the company won- dered if the village could make use of it for the streets. The only cost to council would be loading and trucking the salt to the village shed. The salt has already been tested by the Ministry of Transportation and found to be acceptable. Council accepted the salt and thanked Snell. ***** Reeve Bailey, Councillor Doug Scrimgeour and Clerk-Treasurer John Stewart met with representa- tive from Seaforth Community Hospital to discuss the possible location of a doctor in the village.
