being a granddaughter whom I
hadn't seen since her marriage a
year ago.
The second week in October
began with a couple of cold, breezy
but sunny and bracing days. We tell
stories about our experiences as we -
pass through this 'vale of tears'.
One would not think it so somber a
journey, to listen to the tales told
by each one. The only tears shed
today are tears of laughter.
In the afternoon we arc read to by
Cindy Fleet from those handy little
books I've mentioned before
Chicken Soup for the Soul. They
really are interesting and uplifting
stories.
The usual Monday feature sing-
along begins at 2:30. In the
meantime Steve Cook is
conducting "Memory Lane", in the
200 wing. Tuesday, Oct. 8 was, of
all things, "National Grouch Day"
• where do they find these ideas?
The monthly birthday party,
hosted by the Blyth Ladies had as
usual refreshments which were
sumptuous and plentiful. I had a
delightful surprise, when a tall lady
with a merry smile, sought me out.
I thought she looked vaguely
familiar, but couldn't place her until
she reminded me of a first cousin
who had married young and died of
a terrible accident before he was
30. This was his former wife Vera,
whom I hadn't seen for over 40
years.
The birthday people for October
were Bill Little, Ms Afke Zep, Ms
Olive Sproul, Ms Sarah Barbour,
Ms Freda Skinner, Ms Nell
Jouwsma and Ms Bertha Turner.

unshakable faith in God when the
storm rages around us."
Christians need to use the words,
"Lord, save us," he said. "We'll
drown unless we call on the Lord.
Jesus saves us from circumstances
we find ourselves in or we put
ourselves in."
He said the opposite of faith is
fear and perfect love cuts fear. God
does not give fear. He gives the
spirit of power, love, and a sound
mind. "Jesus can calm the storms of
our lives. With Christ in the vessel,
the storm is calm. We must go to
Jesus and ask him to accept the
storms in our life. We must say to
Him, 'I put my life in your hands.—
