For Teens, By Teens Coasters across the continent One reason we consistently tune into our favourite TV shows are the characters. Here are 10 favourite TV characters: 10. Ellen - Ellen -A quirky sense of humour, a lovable lead character. 9. Homer - The Simpsons - Head of TV's best dysfunctional family. 8. Joey - Friends - A bit of a male ditz. But he's cute. 7. Sally - 3rd Rock From the Sun As a male alien stuck in a female human's body, Sally shows life as a woman in a humorous light. 6. Tommy - 3rd Rock From the Sun - Tommy plays an alien who, on earth, is a teenager. 5. Richard - Caroline in the City - As a cartoonist's grouchy employee, he makes some of the best insults on TV. 4. Harry - 3rd Rock From the Sun - As on most TV shows, there is one really stupid character. On "3rd Rock" it's Harry. 3. Wilson - Home Improvement - Wilson is Tim's knowledgeable OFF THE WALL Appwiak natiar By Erin Roulston After only a month and a half, here I am getting into the routine of school, hating it, and counting the days until it's over (142 if you don't include exams or snow days). My body has already adjusted to getting up early in the morning and I have a hard time sleeping in in the morning. And I'm so busy. From band practice to Driver's Ed to goodness knows what else, every night I'm off to something else. But today, on this gloriously beautiful Thanksgiving day, I finally sat back and relaxed. In these hectic days, with homework and tests and hockey and basketball and Drama club and Students' Council, do you ever sit back and relax? Do you ever go for a walk and smell the fresh autumn air and look at the beautiful leaves in every colour, or listen to the birds or feel the warm wind on your face? It seems that the busier we get, the more we tend to forget about the important things and the older we get the less we appreciate it. Soon the old winter weather will come and we'll all wonder: what happened to the fall? Well, it was here, in full bloom, but we seemed to have passed it by. neighbour. Too bad you never see his face. 2. Chandler - Friends - You never know what Chandler's going to say next or who he's going to make fun of. 1. Phoebe - Friends - Naive, dim-witted, or ditzy. Phoebe's the favourite of those surveyed. Some similarities were noticeable in this list. All the above are sitcom characters. Also three-quarters of 3rd Rock From The Sun's alien crew is here. So are half of the Friends. By Erin Roulston The Chamber is a film about a small Mississippi town, a big racial conspiracy and a bias fourth generation Ku Klux Klan member caught in the middle, who just happens to be on death row. Gene Hackman, plays Sam Cayhall, who was sentenced to death after killing two Jewish children in an Anti-Semetic bombing 16 years earlier. Chris O'Donnell plays Adam Hall, a young lawyer trying to save his grandfather from the gas chamber. Having never had a death Co • Upcoming movies that actually look good are to be released this month. On the week of Oct. 18 is Sleepers starring Brad Pitt, Jason Patric, Robert DeNiro, Kevin Bacon, Minnie Driver, Brad Renfro, Dustin Hoffman and directed by Barry Levinson. This is a story of four friends who suffered brutal abuses from sadistic reform school guards reunite when one of the guards is murdered. The week of Oct. 25 is The Associate starring Whoopi Goldberg, Dianne Wiest, Tim Daly and directed by Donald Petrie, about a financial genius who invents a fictitious Wall Street whiz to climb the corporate ladder and High School high starring Jon Lovitz, Tia Carrere and directed by Hart Bochner. This is an inner city comedy about a teacher who gets assigned to Marion Berry high; the row client, and working with only 28 days for a man who is admittedly guilty and very unco- operative, Hall has his job cut out for him. Faye Dunaway, Sam Cayhall's alcoholic daughter, is ashamed of her father. Bo Jackson is a security guard who grants Cayhall's last wish; to see the sunrise and to eat an Eskimo Pie. My first question when I watched this film was why on earth is Hall defending this murderer? The man bombed many homes and businesses that the Jewish and high school from Hell. The week of Nov. 1 is Larger Than Life, starring Bill Murray, Janeane Garofalo, Linda Fiorentino. This is a tale of a dying man,who bequeaths an elephant to his son. Mad Dog Time stars Richard Dreyfuss, Jeff Goldblum, Ellen Barkin. This comedy is about a mob boss who wreaks havoc on his family after being released from a mental hospital. Romeo and Juliet stars Leonard DiCaprio, Claire Danes, John Leguizamo and directed by Baz Luhrman in a boy- meets-girl tale where tragedy could have been avoided if they'd just had e-mail. The week of Nov. 8 has Ransom with Mel Gibson, Rene Russo, Gary Sinise and directed by Ron Howard. This is a story about a tycoon's son who is kidnapped. The counter-measure is shocking. Found on the Internet. So, did you go to Canada's Wonderland this summer? Go on all the roller coasters? My personal favourite is The Bat. Maybe next summer you'll want to check out these roller coasters, at amusement parks across North America. Mindbuster at West Edmonton Mall, Edmonton, Alberta, drops 47 meters, goes 90 km/h and has three loops. Raptor at Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio drops 46 meters, goes 110 km/hr. blacks owned. And even after 16 long years in jail Cayhall didn't regret it was still as racist as ever and shouted racial slurs at guards and inmates. He had never been a grandfather to Hall, they had never even met. But as the movie unfolds and we see Hall's determination to find a human inside this beast we begin to have faith too. If you want to leave the theatre smiling, this is not the movie for you. If you want to leave the theatre shaken and lost in your thoughts, this movie will definitely do the job. I found myself disgusted with humans and just how evil they can be. But I also learned that the world isn't just black and white; even the most evil person has a good side. Texas Giant at Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington, Texas drops 46 meters goes 120 km/h. Kumba at Bush Gardens, Tampa, Florida drops 48 meters, goes 120 km/h. Viper at Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, California, drops 63 meters goes 190 km/h has three loops. The Beast at Paramount Kings Island, Kings Island, Ohio, drops 48 meters, goes 130 km/h. Steel Phantom at Kennywood Park, West Mifflin, Pennsylvania drops 75 meters and goes 160 km/h. Drachen Fire at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, Vermont drops 49 meters, goes 120 km/h.
