The Citizen, 1996-10-09, Page 6Meet John McDonald,
owner of McDonald Lumber
and long-time Brussels
resident
Last Fall, John was one of the first residents of
Brussels to convert to natural gas. He was so
excited about natural gas that he converted his
furnace, water heater, fireplace, stove, barbecue,
and space heater for his garage.
John began the conversion process a few years ago.
He heard that natural gas was on the way, so he
replaced his electric furnace with a natural gas
furnace. He ran the furnace, his fireplace, and
space heater on propane until natural gas was
available.
According to John the entire conversion process has
((saved him at least 40-50% on his energy bills."
And the entire process to convert the "equipment
took only one day."
John has also installed two high efficiency natural
gas furnaces at his 14,000 sq. ft. hardware store.
He says, "Those furnaces have saved my business
at least 60% on my fuel bills."
John and his wife, Merilyn, say natural gas provides
them "with a more comfortable, warmer
household," and that "the Union Gas personnel we
dealt with were good guys and there were no
problems."
"In fact," John said "we have recommended some
of our neighbours switch to gas."
If you would like to find out how easy it is to start
enjoying the benefits of natural gas, simply call
Union Gas or your local Union Gas Member
Dealer. Just like John McDonald did.
