Festival invites audiences of all ages to meet New Friends, Old Friends on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. at the Blyth Memorial Community Hall. This production follows in the tradition of other recent Blyth Festival children's hits like Peter and the Wolf in 1994 and Let's Do Munsch in 1995 which performed to more than 10,000 students, teachers and parents. Specifically created for children in Grades K-6, New Friends, Old Friends is written and directed by Duncan McGregor, a member of the Blyth Festival Board and former artistic director of Carousel Players in St. Catharines. - The play includes three stories of friendship set in Southwestern Ontario: Tractor Dan is a hilarious and heroic introduction of the tractor to Ontario farming; Ralph and Fiona is about the curious friendship between an old sheepdog in serious trouble and a freedom- loving fox, dedicated to helping him; The Amazing Adventures of Emily tells about a young girl who manages to outwit a furious spell- maker by befriending three animals in need. The play is performed by actors from the community, and includes puppets, action, comedy and original music composed and performed by Arlene Darnborough of Goderich. Arlene previously provided the music for Peter and the Wolf and Munsch. New Friends, Old Friends will HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO A GREAT COUPLE!
