Just when you think there is nothing really new or original to be seen at
the movies or on video along comes a movie that is a real buried treasure.
Although the box cover makes Bottle Rocket ****(Columbiaaristar)
look like another Quentin Tarantino tiresome shoot 'em-up, the movie
instead turns out to be a skewed black comedy about a trio of 20-
something misfits whose life of crime turns out to be the wrong career
choice. This well-written, well-acted and directed film has more wit and
style than most of the other movies I've seen this year. Highly
recommended! (Rated R)
The week's other new releases include Before and After (Hollywood)
starring Meryl Streep and Liam Neeson as the parents whose lives are
thrown into turmoil when their son (Edward Furlong) is accused of
murdering his girlfriend. (Rated PG)
The romantic comedy If Lucy Fell (ColumbiafTristar) focuses on two
best friends who vow to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge if they don't find
love by the time they turn 30. The cast features Sarah Jessica Parker, Ben
Stiller, Elle MacPherson and Eric .Schaeffer who also wrote the screenplay
and directed. (Rated R)
Mistaken identities and deception highlight Two Much (Touchstone) a
universally panned comedy starring Antonio Bandaras, Melanie Griffith
and Darryl Hannah. (Rated PG-13)
In The Thin Line Between Love And Hate (Alliance) Martin Lawrence
plays a ladies' man whose love life takes a turn for the worse when his
latest conquest develops a fatal attraction. (Rated R)
Carried Away (New Line) stars Dennis Hopper and Amy Irving as two
lovers whose lives are turned upside down when he succumbs to an
enticing 17-year-old girl. (Rated R)
Families will no doubt enjoy Oliver and Company "1/2 (Disney -
$28.99 or less) Disney's contemporary animated reworking of Dicken's
Oliver Twist. While the animation is first class as expected, I found the
film to be rather mediocre. (Rated G)
Fans of the TV series The X-Files (Fox - $19.95 or less) can check out
three new volumes of the popular show. Each tape features two uncut
episodes. (Unrated)
If classic television sparks your interest then you'll love a new group of
titles from Columbia/Tristar Home Video. Each three volume set of
Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, The Flying Nun and The Burns and Allen
Show sell for $9.95 or less and offer two shows on a tape.

Grade 3/4s see nature
GRADE 3/4
By Paul Dawson and
Paul Walker
The Grade 3/4 class was just at
the Wawanosh Nature Centre. They
said they had fun there. They are
learning about trees. They are also
writing stories about their trip to
the Wawanosh Centre.
In Art they are making a thing
called "Bull's-Eye". On the
computer they are learning how to
do the Almena program.
Mrs. Hessels knows how to keep
the class behaving. She gives out
five tickets to each student. If they
are good they will get an extra
ticket. If they are bad they LOSE a
ticket! At the end of the week they
put the tickets in a box and have a
draw! The lucky winner gets to
choose from the prize box.
Birthdays are: Christ Gibson,
Sept. 9 and Leanne Elston, Sept.
16.
The Grade 3/4 class welcomes
Jeremy Vanderhaar to their
classroom. Jeremy comes from
Clinton school.
Welcome to East Wawanosh PS
Jeremy!
GRADE 2/3
By Shawn Cottrill and
Travis Campbell
Grade 2/3 has enjoyed Grade 2/3
because ...
Josh likes going to bed earlier at
night.
Evan likes to colour.
Kyle likes learning cursive
writing.
Amy's going to be biking in the
Terry Fox Run.'
In Math Grade 2 is learning
greater than and less than. Grade
threes are very excited about
having textbooks. They are
learning patterns. They made
Canada Geese.
They took an exciting bus trip to
the East Wawanosh Conservation
Area. Amy liked doing leaf and
bark rubbings. Catherine liked
going for walks in the woods.
Margaret saw a red squirrel. They
played some games there and went
for walks and some other things as
well.

The dessert euchre at the- Legion in Blyth was one of the
