Blyth's own Students from Blyth who are going on to post-secondary education received recipients this year are, from left: Carrie Ansley, Kathy Fraser. Chris Howson, the Norman Parks Garrett memorial Scholarship Award on Friday evening at Erica Clark and Pauline Stewart. the Central Huron Secondary School commencement exerercies. The Joseph Johns wins top award at CHSS Local students brought home several awards at the Sept. 20, fall commencement at Central Huron Secondary School. The Grade 12 awards went to: B.J. Cullen, Clinton Auto Parts Ltd, Award for Auto 4G, theory and Kathy Fraser, Champion Road and Machinery Award. OAC awards were earned by: Todd Shaddick, Conies Valumart Award for a student pursuing a career in business; Kristy Hector Kingswell Memorial Award for OAC computer studies; Erica Clark, Centennial Band Award for proficiency in music OA and Joseph Johns, Sir Ernest Cooper Estate Scholarship for the best six OAC courses. Awarded the Norman Parks Gar- ret Memorial Scholarships for Blyth students pursuing post-sec- ondary education were: Carrie Ans- ley, Erica Clark, Kathy Fraser, Chris Howson and Pauline Stewart. W.D. Fair Scholarships for Sub- ject Proficiency went to: Joseph Johns, algebra, English OAI and physics; Lindsay Anderson, calcu- lus and Tina Hoonard, geography. The Central Huron Secondary School Teacher's Award, which goes to the student who made CHSS a better place through lead- ership both in and out of the class- room, was earned by Lindsay Anderson as was the Certificate of Appreciation for her work as a Huron County Board of Education school trustee. Joseph Johns was awarded the 1859 Award which is given to a student who successfully combines studies in areas of science or math and humanities or arts, thereby con- necting these broad areas of know- ledge. Students named CHSS scholars for achieving an average of 80 per cent in six senior level courses were: Kathy Fraser, Tina Hoonard, Pauline Stewart, Charlotte Wilts and Crystal Wilts. Ontario Scholarships were received by: Lindsay Anderson, Erica Clark, Joseph Johns and Todd Shaddick. The Governor-General Award went to Joseph Johns for achieving the highest marks in six OAC sub- jects. Lindsay Anderson was chosen class valedictorian. Terry Pardys received the general proficiency award for Year 4. Hullett Happenings It is a new school year at Hullett and there are some new faces among the staff. Our new principal is Mr. George Parker who is from Kincardine. We also have some new teachers named Mrs. Andrea Brown, Ms Lorrie Goos, Miss Lori Jewitt, Ms Jill Sygrove, Mrs. Rosie Weise. Mrs. Elizabeth Stenett will be coming back later in the year after her maternity leave. Our students' council results were: Melissa Snell, president; Kristy James, vice-president; Mandy Dunbar, secretary; Leanne Jamieson, treasurer. LIBRARY There arc new faces in our Library Resource Centre this year. Mrs. Pletsch the teacher/librarian is half-time library and half-time Grade 6. Our Resource Educational Assistant is Mrs. Goos. On Monday, Sept. 9, Ms Goos had a baby girl so Ms Sygrove will be replacing her as REA for the next few months. It's great having these people at the Library to help with the books and computers.
