THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 1996 Brussels PS news Fall Fair an exciting time for students HU office open — for now Though the Brussels branch office of the Health Unit has been targeted for closure for the time being at least it is still business as usual. Public Health Nurse Marguerite Thomas has been notified that the office will close, but as of Friday, she had not received a date as to when. Chair of the Brussels Medical/Dental Centre Board Bruce Hahn said that to date he has not received any official notice that the unit is moving out..He believes that once notification has been for- mally presented the office will remain open for a period of one month. Hahn also said that it is his understanding that the chair of the County Health Board, Ron Murray, is expected to attend the October meeting of council to explain the reasons for closing the office in Brussels. Everyone always loves the fair! We would like to thank all of the people who participated in the parade and various activities. It was a great success. Now the school can be nice and warm with its new heating and air circulation system that was lifted onto the gym roof by a crane on Sept. 17. There was a meeting of teachers to develop the new Huron County Grade 7/8 report cards. Mr. Prior and Mrs. Petrie were a great help in the writing of the reports. On Tuesday afternoons Kim Souch will be giving guitar lessons, and piano lessons are also available from Paula Van de Kemp on Mondays or .Veronica Healey on Thursday afternoons. If still interested call Veronica Healey at 335-6486 or Kim Souch at 527- 1715. On the evening of Sept. 17 a window on the primary door and a window in Mrs. Clark's classroom were broken. Sept. 18 they were replaced with new windows. The students and teachers do not appreciate the vandalism. If you know anything that has a connection witlaithis or any other crime, call Crime Stoppers. On Friday, Sept. 20 the Grade 7 students will be introduced to the Hepatitis B introductory video. Soon to follow will be the Grade 7s first needle. The BPS cookbooks have been received. We would like to thank Mrs. Johnston and her committee. The cookbooks were being sold at the fair. Call Mrs. Prior at the school if you would sttl like one. The gym is being painted and should be done in about a week. Soon to follow there will be a meeting of Grade 6-8 to discuss social activities for the year. The school soccer teams are just about ready to play in the tournament at Grey Central School on Tuesday, Sept. 24. The girls team is, Jen Cowan, Eileen Exel, Nicole Lowe, Trish Teeft, Katie Clark, Kate Kuepfer, Shannon White, Chrissy Mason, Sarah Little, Amy Douma, Amber Park- Shaw, Kendall Jutzi, Richelle Jorritsma, Nicole Bernard, Samantha Thomas, Nicole Mastnak, Courtney Sallows, Megan Bragg, and Jen McDonald.
