necessary to ensure safety and
program compliance.
What does all this mean to you as
a producer of high quality pork?
Well, a simple answer would be to
maintain the always important and
much needed export markets as

Quality Assurance Program.
Ontario pork producers will need to
have such a program in place if
they want to increase or even
maintain a competitive edge in the
everchanging market place.
The Quality Assurance program
strives to document the safety,
quality and integrity already
practised by the swine producers of
this province. By initiating this QA
program we will be assuring
Ontario Pork Producers are ready
to meet the market demands of the
next century.
HACCP is being put into place in
several different forms in
Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta,
the United States and Europe. The
Ontario Pork Quality Assurance
Committee has looked at these
programs and is proceeding to set
up a trial program on swine
operations throughout Ontario.
Within the next few weeks
Ontario Pork will be looking for
Ontario swine producers who
would like to work with the Quality
Assurance Committee on a pilot
program being set up on swine
operations in Ontario.
