Friday night Seaforth visited the
Bulldogs in the Huron County
Fastball League B side round-robin
playoffs.
Seaforth was the first to score a
run in the second inning. The
Bulldogs came back with two runs
of their own. Brent Whitmore and
John Miners both hit doubles and
Miners scored on a wild pitch after
taking third on Greg Wheeler's
single.
Seaforth took back the lead in the
third inning, scoring two runs, then
built on their lead in the fourth and
fifth scoring one and two runs
respectively, for a four run lead.
The Bulldogs rallied in the
seventh. Bruce Johnston, Dean
Rutledge and Dwain Nicholls hit
consecutive singles loading the
bases. Andrew McCutcheon
reached first after being hit by a
wild pitch. Brent Whitmore hit
another double to score two more
runs.
But the Bulldogs offense ran out
of steam and Seaforth took the win
6 - 5.
Mike Watson and Andrew
McCutcheon shared the pitching
duties for Brussels. Brent
Whitmore went four for four at the
plate while Dean Rutledge and
Dwain Nichols went three for four.

town Tuesday to play the Bulldogs
last round-Robin game. The game
went quickly until the fourth inning
when Zurich squeezed in a run.
The Bulldogs finally came to life
in the sixth with John Miners
hitting a three-run homer scoring
Dwain Nicholls and Grey Mulvey.
Zurich came back with one run in
the seventh but it wasn't enough
and the Bulldogs won 3-2.
Dave Smith and Mike Watson,
shared the pitching duties for the
Bulldogs. Dwain Nicholls, Greg
Mulvey, and John Miners went two
for three at the plate.
Although all the games of the
round-robin have not been played,
it is unlikely the Bulldogs will
advance to the B Final.
The Bulldogs are grateful to their
fans for their support this year.

what the United Nations has
decided (again) is the best country
in the world. You'll understand
when I tell you it gives us great
pleasure to be No. 1 where it really
counts.
You will also be pleased to know
that we seldom use the expression
"Slick Willy" when talking about
you. A folksy "Bill" suits us fine.
