Elected
Alf Sutton of Ethel was elected to the one-year position of
District Deputy Grand Master for the North Huron
Masonic District at the 141st annual meeting of the Grand
Lodge A.F.&A.M. of Canada in the Province of Ontario.
The North Huron District is made up of 12 lodges.

Majestic tours MDL
A tour of MDL Doors with 20
women and gentlemen took place
on Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.
Joan Smith, an employee, guided
everyone through the plant,
explaining the various stages of the
process. Designs of different win-
dows could be inserted depending
on the customer's choice.
Convenors Jean Bell and
Dorothy Steller thanked Ms Smith
for her informative tour.
The meeting of the Majestic
Women's Institute continued at the
library with President Ruth Sauve
opening the meeting with the
readings "A Smile" and "Ten
Commandments".
Roll call - something you use in
your home that is Canadian made,
was answered by the members.
The quilt will be set up at the fair
to sell tickets on it.
Events coming up are Huron
County Rally on Sept. 30 at 9:30 in
Londesboro; the Guelph Area
Convention on Oct. 9 and 10 in
Brussels; the Huron Perth
Education courses on cardigan
sweatshirt with Heat N'Bond and
microwave cooking for Christmas

Keri Anne Nicholson won the
title of 1996 Brussels Fair Ambas-
sador at the competition held Satur-
day night at the community centre.
There was an large crowd on hand
for the contest, which was followed
by a dance.

where else. When he received the
all-clear, Richmond was back to
work in one week. Since then he
has had regular checkups, which
have decreased now to every two
years.
"For anyone with a history of
cancer, early detection is very
important. If your doctor doesn't
suggest it, you do it. I know of peo-
ple who let things go too long and
it got to be too late. With all the
advances made in fighting cancer,
it can be beaten if it's discovered
early."
Last year's Terry's Team Mem-
ber, Aimee Leishman will be par-
ticipating in this year's event.
Aimee raised a total of $353 for the
event.
Another key participant this year
is Jane Draper, who last yew-raised -
the most money in pledges for the
Run in Brussels. She brought in a
total of $442. In the two years the
even has been held in Brussels a
total of $9,419 has been raised to
help fight cancer.
The third annual Terry Fox Run
begins at 1 p.m. this Sunday from
The Ark. Pledge sheets are avail-
able at many locations throughout
the village.
Prior to the run Brad Beuermann
of Brussels will share a unique
experience he had when he ran with
Terry Fox as he passed through
Stratford during his Marathon of
Hope.
Maria of RR2, Bluevale.
Ken Anne, a daughter of Joe and
Hannah of RR2, Bluevale, is a
Grade 13 student at F.E. Madill
Secondary School. She began her
duties this week when she officially
opened the 135th Brussels Fall
Fair, on Tuesday night.
The fun continues today (Sept.
18) with the parade getting things
started at noon. There will be pony
• rides, a midway and much more to
celebrate this anniversary year.

strong gave the report of the Sept. 9
meeting. Tentative date for the
ACWW church service for April
27. The District Annual will be
held on May 13, 1997 at Fordwich.
Majestic is to supply entertainment.
Questions were asked by the
board director to be answered by
the members at the next meeting.
Models are needed for Oct. 9 at the
Area Convention.
A motion was made to buy new
members badge pins.
The Environmental Fair is to be
held on Nov. 7 at the Brussels
Arena with Majestic serving food
at the lunch booth.
Happy birthday was sung to Jean
Fraser, Alice Brothers, Melody
White.
The lunch was served before
closing the meeting. A change of
date for the next meeting is on
Oct. 16 due to Area Convention.
