Teen dies in crash bituaries
WILLIAM L. CRAIG
William L. Craig of Auburn
passed away at Huronlea, Brussels,
on Thursday, Sept. 5, 1996, in his
81st year.
Mr. Craig, past president of Craig
Hardwoods, Auburn, was the
beloved husband and best friend of
Hazel E. (Mackey), dear father of
Allan and Elaine Craig of Auburn,
Brian and Margaret Craig of St.
Jacobs and loving grandfather of
Tyler, Peter and Benjamin Craig of
Auburn and Michael, Daniel and
David Craig of St. Jacobs.
He was the dear brother of
Melvin and Donna Craig of Blue-
vale and the late Arnold Craig and
the brother-in-law of Murray
Mackey of Parkhill. Mr. Craig is
also survived by several nieces and
nephews.
The funeral service was held at
McCallum and Palla Funeral
Home, Goderich, Monday, Sept. 9.
Rev. Paul Ross officiated.
Flowerbearers were Ben Craig,
Michael Craig and John Blok. Pall-
bearers were John Carswell, Frank
Workman, Don Nolan, Peter
McDonald, Larry Martin and Ralph
Mackey.
Interment was at Colborne
Cemetery.
Donations to the Parkinsons
Foundation would be appreciated.

GEORGE JOHN SCHNEIDER
George John Schneider of
Mildmay passed away at Brucelea
Haven Senior's Home on Wednes-
day, Sept. 4, .1996 in his 92nd year.
He was the beloved husband of
the late Marion Ott. He was the
dear father of Jim and his wife
Dorothy, of Auburn, Anna and her
husband, Omer Robichaud of New
Brunswick, Eileen and her
husband, Jim Schiestel of
Teeswater, Ruth and her husband,
Ellis Woods, of Kitchener, Wendy
and her husband, Steve Noble of
British Columbia, Bob and his
wife, Shcala of British Columbia
and Kathy and her husband Barrie
McLean of Teeswater. Mr.
Schneider was the loving grand-
father of 16 grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren. He was the
loving brother of Josephine Weber
of Brucelea Haven and Rose
Nesbitt of Oshawa. He was
predeceased by four brothers and
three sisters. Mr. Schneider will be
fondly remembered by many nieces
and nephews. •
Friends paid their respects at the
Greg Roberts Funeral Home,
Mildmay, on Friday from 2 - 4 and
7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service was
conducted by Reverend Neil
Thomsen in St. Matthew's Lutheran
Church, Mildmay, on Saturday,
Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. Interment was at
St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery,
Mildmay.
Donations were made to the
Alzheimer's society and St.
Matthew's Lutheran Church.
Pallbearers were Gary Schneider,'
Ronald Schneider, Raymond
Hutchison, Dennis Schneider,
Michael Schneider and David
Donaldson.
Flower bearers were Natalie
Bartley, Ashley Bartley and Alicia
Donaldson.
NIICHAEL KOEBEL
Michael Koebel of Wroxeter
passed away Sept. 1, 1996, the
result of .a car accident, at the
young age -:Ti 19.
He was the beloved son of Ger-
ald and Lorna Koebel of Wroxeter,
the loved brother of Brandie
Koebel of Toronto and Crystal and
Adam Koebel, both of Wroxeter.
He will be sadly missed by lov-
ing grandparents Marion and Gra-
ham Telehus of Wingham and
Gerald and Mary Koebel of Kitch-
ener as well as several aunts,
uncles, nieces and nephews.
Rev. Brad Beale officiated at the
Sept. 4 service from St. Stephens
Anglican Church, Gorrie. Interment
was at Wroxeter Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason Kliest,
Tim Schmidt, Dereck Connor,
Trevor Machan, John Korporaal
and William Korporaal.
In remembrance of Michael
Koebel, donations to St. Stephens
Anglican Church, Gorrie, would be
appreciated by the family.
Brussels
to host
convention

"Wasn't that a party?" This is the
comment the Women's Institute
members hope to hear after the
57th Guelph Area Convention
celebrates 100 years of Women's
Institute work held at the Brussels,
Morris, Grey Community Centre
on Oct. 9 and 10.
The theme for the convention is
"Thanks for the Memories." There
are three workshops beginning at
3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9 to
get things underway.
The banquet begins at 6:30 p.m.
followed by entertainment from
Margaret Mclnroy of Walton,
accompanied by Alice Brothers of
Brussels.
A fashion show "Thanks for the
Memories 1897-1997" will be
followed by the presentation of five
door prizes plus the $50 lucky
draw. This finishes the first day
events.
Thursday it's down to business!
FWIO President Marg Harris will
be the guest speaker in the morning
session, followed by the reports of
the past year's work.
Before closing the convention the
last of the lucky draws will be held,
including the rose quilt draw by
Huron East District.
Women's Institute members are
asked to especially make plans for
attending this convention as this is
a special celebration of 100 years
of Women's Institute work and
accomplishments. Be sure to
partake of the two-day convention
and contribute to the making of
history for the next 100 years of
Women's Institute.
The investigation into a fatal
crash which claimed the life of a
Howick Twp. teen on Sept. 1 is
continuing.
According to a spokesperson
from the OPP, Jason McArthur, 18,
Howick Twp. was driving a 1988
Mustang east on Hwy 87, just west
of County Road 28 at 7:20 p.m.
when he lost control. The car slid
into the south ditch and rolled.
McArthur and his passenger, 19-
year-old Michael Kocbel were
ejected.
Both teens were taken to Wing-
ham and District Hospital. Koebel
was fatally injured, while
McArthur's injuries were listed as
major.
