Brussels Here it is September and for many families that not only means back to school but also that the Brussels Fall Fair, this year on Sept. 17 and 18 is fast approaching. Local fairs give the community an opportunity to show off their talents and entertain people of all ages. This is the 135th anniversary of the Brussels Fair and members of the Brussels Agricultural Society have been actively working to make it a good one. Both Morris and Grey Townships celebrated their 140th anniversary this summer_ so it's interesting that five years after the townships incorpor- ated the forefathers thought it was important to organize a local Agricultural Society. In earlier years it was known as the East Huron Agricultural Society. A successful fair is when the whole community gets involved, showing off vegetables, baking, crafts, handiwork, etc. Agriculture in the local area has a lot to be proud of. One of the specials this year at the fair is a Scarecrow dressed in Sales of the new history of Brus- sels will kick-off at Brussels Fall Fair next week after village coun- cil, Monday night, gave the go- ahead for publishing the book. Council authorized North Huron Publishing Company to publish 1,000 copies of the 250-pg. illus- trated history of the village. A com- mittee of volunteers has been working with staff from The Citi- zen for the past year to bring together a comprehensive history of the village, its organizations and its businesses. It is hoped the first copies of the book will be available by Christmas. hi the meantime, certificates enti- tling the bearer to a history book when it arrives will go on sale at the Homecoming booth at the Fall Brussels Mennonite Fellowship (519) 887-6388 Worship Service 9:30 a.m. Jesus Is Lord Guests Welcome western attire.
