35th Pioneer Thresher Reunion
Music plays big part of Thresher Reunion atmosphere
What event would be complete without the
strains of fiddles, the precision of
stepdancers and a variety of dance music?
Certainly not the 35th Huron Pioneer
Thresher and Hobby Association's gathering
in Blyth from Sept. 6 to 8.
From the time campers arrive Wednesday,

visitors Will be treated to jam session, old-
time dancing, fiddle tunes, Pierce, Orchestra,

Gladys Van Egmond of Clinton, in her
10th year as co-ordinator of entertainment,
along with Dave Chittick of Hanover, Bev
Hanson of Pt. Clark, and Lois Hodgins of
Crediton, have organized a full slate of
entertainment.
Camper jam sessions, scheduled for
Wednesday evening, will draw visitors to the
Auditorium and Steel Shed for old-time
dancing with lesson available. Thursday's
fiddle jam will be held in Sheds 1 and 2.
A fiddle workshop will be conducted by
Doug McNaughton of Stratford and
participation will be by invitation only.-This
event has become very popular in recent
years with more than 50 people

arena.
This year there will be approximately 67
vendors. Some will also be located around
the ball diamond nearest the arena.
The displays include hand-painted china,
ceramics, wood whittling, knitting, jewelry,
quilting, woodworking and many more.
Some of the more unique and new exhibitors
at this reunion include a woman who
sketches caricatures on wood, a man who
makes dulcimers and old-time spinning
wheels and another who whittles trains and
gets them operational.
Woodworking, a very popular craft at the
Threshers reunion, is also drawing a clock
maker this year.
It is hoped there will be on-going
demonstrations of quilting, woodworking,
whittling, jewellery assembly, china painting
and running trains.
The three day event, which brings out a
different group of crafters, offers a different
selection from other shows, says Fox,
because it is a summer event. "It is a good
craft show so everyone should enjoy it."
