A family gathering followed the service at Bill and Doreen Taylor's. Harold and Nancy Jardin and Clare and Gladys Van Camp recently visited with Keith, Joyce and family in High River, Alta. On their return journey they visited with Ray and Lucy Van Camp and family at Marathon and Lyle and The Brussels Tigers eliminated the Monkton Muskrats from WOAA playoffs with a 7-4 win in the third and deciding game. Scripture was taken by Ivy Cloakey who read from Psalm 121. Hazel Dalrymple led in prayer. Roll call was answered by what you like most about August. The secretary's report was read by Margaret Siertsema and the treasurer's report by Ivy. Thirty-nine sick and shut-in visits were recorded. Margaret read two poems "Trust Dorothy Ansley and families at Thessalon. Florence Sura, Zephyrhills, Florida, Bonnie and ALicia Torunski, St. John's, N.B. and Sandra and Will Augustine of Leamington were guests for a few days at the home of Alf and Millie Nichol. They attended the Blyth P.S. Homecoming Reunion 1896- 1996 in Blyth. Both sisters, Florence and Millie, celebrated their birthdays early with a beautiful decorated cake. Their birthdays are Sept. 16 and Sept. 17. Bluewater Fastball League. Brussels was hitless until Ken Higgins opened the fifth inning with a double, eventually scoring on a two out throwing error. Mite Boys when they came to Blyth, Aug. 19. With Ryan McClinchey pitching, Goderich was shutout in the first. Grounders went to Jamie Ross then McClinchey for the first two outs. A strikeout closed the frame. Blyth jumped to an early lead, scoring seven. Nick Stryker walked to lead it off, Darcey Cook doubled and Josh Albrechtas homered. Ray- mond deBoer, Korey Machan and Ross contributed singles with a double by Stryker and a walk for McClinchcy. The score was 7-1 after two and a half when Blyth took a command- ing lead. McClinchey began with a four innings of perfect ball. Friday night the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in their league semi-finals with an 8-3 win over the Zurich Panthers. Strome batted four for four with Murray Pipe going three for three and Bryan Neill two for two. Higgins and Uhrig each added homeruns in a game. The Tigers settled early scoring four runs in their first at bat. Doug Conley pitched the win with a seven hit, eight strikeout performance.
