Call to Worship, welcome and announcements were given by Lorna Fraser, clerk of session. Hymn What A Friend We Have In Jesus was sung followed by Prayer of Confession repeated in unison. Children's hymn Can a Little Child Like Me was sung followed by children's time. Guest speaker Muriel Coultes of Belgrave used a hand mirror to demonstrate what is seen looking out a window. bituaries HERMAN WHITFIELD Herman Whitfield of Brussels paased away on Sunday, July 21, 1996 at the Wingham and District Hospital. He was 94. For 55 years, Mr. Whitfield was the beloved husband of Muriel. He was the loving father of Sharon and Gord Lamont of Kincardine and Lois and Lyle Osborn of Inver- huron. He was the loved grandfa- ther of Lori Lamont, Renee Lamont, Brydon and his wife Jen Osborn, Brad and his fiance Sian, Craig Osbom and one' great-grand- daughter Brianna Osborn. He was the dear brother of the late Lawrence, Edgar, Nelson, Lawson (Bob), Thomas and Lloyd Whit- field. Mr. Whitfield rested at Betts Funeral Home, Brussels from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Monday. Funer- al service was 2 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Christine Johnson officiated. Carrying Mr. Whitfield to his final resting place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel, were pallbearers Jim Wilson, Wilfred Schefter, Bill Bremner, Charlie Lake, Elston Speiran and Ralph Machan. In remembrance donations to the Brussels United Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciat- ed by the family. ELAINE SMITH Elaine Smith of 23 Jordan Street, Belgrave, formerly of Brussels, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 1996. She was 57. Mrs. Smith was the beloved wife of Larry Smith of Belgrave, the dear mother of Linda and her hus- band, Warren Knight of Belgrave, Wendy and her husband, Bill Phillips of Brussels, Paula Smith of Belgrave, David and his wife, Karen of Cranbrook and Murray Smith of Brantford and loving grandmother of Curtis, Garrett, Scott, Robyn, Evan and Chelsey. Rev. Cathrine Campbell officiat- ed at the funeral service from McBurney Funeral Home, Wing- ham, July 19. Interment was at Brandon Ceme- tery. Memorial donations to Huron- Perth Branch of the Cancer Society would be appreciated as expres- sions of sympathy. MILDRED A. MCNALL Mildred A. McNall of Huron- view, formerly of Blyth, passed away at her residence, July 21, 1996. Born in Hullett Twp. to William and Martha (Manning) Gray on Sept. 13, 1902, she was the dear wife of the late George Leonard McNall, the loving mother of Don- ald McNall of Clinton and Edmund Everyone looks different and that is for a reason because God made everybody different and special. Psalm 139 "0 Lord, Thou Nast Searched Me" was read in unison followed with Gloria Patri. Loran Fraser read the Old Testament Lesson, Genesis 28: 10-19 and New Testament Lesson, Romans: 8 12-17. The Gospel reading was from Matthew 13, 24-30. Mrs. Muriel Coultes chose for her message, "Children of God". All of God's children are different, she said, though people try to be fair and treat each child equally, they sometimes have favourites. A blessing by the Father is a McNall of Blyth and the loved grandmother of three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. McNall was predeceased by one grandson, three brothers, Eddie, Bert and Ephriah Gray and one sister, Hattie Wood. Rev. Stephen Huntley officiated at the funeral service, July 23, at Tasker-Chapel, Beattie-Falconer Funeral Home, Blyth. Greg Toll and Kerrie Szusz were the flower bearers. Pallbearers were Bob Szusz, Vaughan Toll, Eric Gray, Greg Andrews, Roger Moore and Ken- neth Wood. Interment was at Blyth Union Cemetery. DOROTHY ZURBRIGG Dorothy Marie Zurbrigg of Lis- towel passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 18, 1996. She was 80. The former Dorothy Edmunds was the beloved wife of Leroy, who predeceased her. She was the dear mother of Hope and Wayne Lowe of Brussels, Peggy and Ron Hugill of London and Lynn and Tom Thome of Thamesford. She was the loved grandmother of Tim and Donna Prior of Brussels, Deb- bie and Steve Rathwell of Mitchell and Nancy Johnston of London. Four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Taylor and Emily Prior, and Kelsey Rathwell, survive her as well. She will be fondly remembered by her sister Gwen and husband Ted Park- er of Stratford, brother Jack Edmunds of London and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Mrs. Zur- brigg was predeceased by her par- ents Margaret Yousie and Edward Edmunds, grandson, David, sister, Irene and brother Harold. Friends were received at the Kevin E. Brown Funeral Home, Listowel, on Saturday, July 20, 1996. The funeral and committal service was at Trinity United Church, Listowel on Sunday at 2 p.m. Interment was in Fairview Ceme- tery, Listowel. Donations to the Listowel Memorial Hospital or Trinity Unit- ed Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. ALICE CAROLINE CASWELL Alice Caswell, RR3, Wingham passed away at Braemar Retirement Centre, Turnberry Twp. on Friday, July 19, 1996. She was 73. Mrs. Caswell is survived by her husband Arthur. She will be remembered by her daughter, Helen (Mrs. Gerald) Leudke of RR3, Elmwood, sons Verner and Larry, both of RR3, Wingham, and Garry and his wife Barbara of RR2, Bluevale. She was the dear sister of Jean Bailey of Dobbinton and loved grandmother of four. Mrs. Caswell was predeceased by powerful blessing. In the reading Jacob realized that God had been with him. "God promises to be with us too," Mrs. Coultes said. Perhaps people should not move so quickly to judge. Maybe there is something different, she said. "Everyone is different. "We sometimes don't think that we are good enough to be children of God, but we are." She challenged everyone to go. home and look in the mirror, see' that they are special and loved by God. "God will always be with you and you are a child of God." Hymn, The Church is Wkerever God's People was sung. Offering was received and dedicated. an infant son, Barry. There was no funeral home visi- tation or memorial service. Crema- tion took place with interment in Wingham Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham. DONNA (MCDONALD) scorr Donna Scott of Goderich passed away at University Hospital, Lon- don on Friday, July 19, 1996. She was 64. She was the beloved wife of James Scott and the dear mother of Jay Carter and her friend Don Tremeer, Judy Dixon, all of Clin- ton, Jill and Dave Jervis of Seaforth, JoAnn and Joe Flynn of RR3, Clinton, Jamie and Liz Scott of Goderich, Julie and Gary Gag- nier of Chatham. She was the loving grandmother of 17. Mrs. Scott will be remem- bered by her brothers and sisters Liz, Beatrice, Donelda, Mary Helen, Alva, Alex, and Bruce. She was the dear daughter-in-law of Jean Scott of Huronview and sister- in-law of Ken Scott. She was predeceased by a sister Peggy. Funeral services were held at the McCallum & Palla Funeral Home, Goderich, Monday, July 21. Rev. Stan McDonald officiated. Interment was at Maitland Ceme, tery. MARGARET LINDNER Margaret Lindner, 71, of Brus- sels passed away on Sunday, July 21, 1996 at the Seaforth Communi- ty Hospital. She was the loving mother of Ken, Dennis and Leonard Lindner, and Sheila Kuntz. She was the loved companion of Walter Schlueter and the dear sister of Harold Thornton, Mildred Jacklin and Jean Noemer. Margaret will be missed by her many grandchildren. She was predeceased in 1989 by her husband, Henry Lindner. She rested at Betts Funeral Home, Brussels, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, then to Ratz Bechtel Funeral Home, Kitchener on Wednesday. Cremation has taken place. Donations to Project Lift, 72 St. Legar, Kitchener, would be appre- ciated as expressions of sympathy. A mosquito may fly as far as 500 kilometres over its lifetime.
