Lyon of Londesboro, passed away, July 12, 1996, at Clinton Public Hospital at the age of 91. Born in Hullett Twp. to Albert Wesley Beacom and Mary Ann Pearson, she was the dear wife of the late Joseph, E. Lyon, the loved mother of Murray Lyon and Bert and Joanne Lyon, all of Londes- boro and the loving grandmother of six grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Mrs. Lyon was the dear sister of Edythe Beacom of Londesboro. She was predeceased by a daugh- ter, Marguerite (Mrs. Ron Neil), a daughter-in-law, Shirley Lyon, sis- ter, Kathleen (Mrs. George Neil) and two brothers, Harold and Her- bert Beacom. Mrs. Lyon was a member of Lon- desboro United Church. Rev. Stan McDonald officiated at the funeral service, held July 15, at Tasker Chapel of Beattie-Falconer Funeral Homes, Blyth. Pallbearers were Brad and Wayne Lyon, Calvin Bakelaar, Bob and Bill Beacom and Douglas Neil. Flower bearers were Deanna and Jane Lyon, Cheryl Bakelaar and Angela Beacom. Interment was at Blyth Union Cemetery. WILLIAM KENNETH EDGAR William Kenneth Edgar of Wrox- eter, passed away peacefully at Wingham and District Hospital, Saturday, July 6, 1996, in his 89th year. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Davey who pre- deceased him in 1986, the loving father of Bonnie and Gordon His- lop of Wroxeter, Davey and Sandra Edgar of Gorrie, Catherine Edgar of Wroxeter and Louise Edgar of Kitchener and the loved grandfa- ther of Jason Edgar and his fiancée, Tracey McInnes of Wroxeter. The funeral service was held at Wroxeter United Church, July 9. Interment was at Wroxeter Cemetery Honorary pallbearers were Dewey Adams, Henry Seiling and Erwin Stone. Pallbearers were Bruce Mont- gomery, Stephen Bott, Dick Car- son, Harold Fleet, Ron McMichael and Rob Geertsma. Flower bearers were Heather Fleet, Kim Bridge, Karen Bott, Rhonda Thornton and Barb Geerts- ma. Marie Strong and Tracey McInnes gave readings. Coons cause crash A family of coons caused a cyclist and rider to crash in the early morning hours of July 13 on Hwy 87 near Tumberry Twp. Road 5/6. According to Goderich OPP Const. John Marshall, Harvey E. Cooper, 49, of Kinloss Twp., was westbound on the highway at 12:40 a.m. when he saw the raccoons run across the road. He hit the brakes, causing the bike to swerve out of control and flip in the ditch. Cooper and his wife Carol, 47, who was riding with him, were taken to Wingham Hospital with minor injuries. Gord Caster and Rev. Jeff Hawkins sang a duet, In the Gar- den. In remembrance, donations to the Wroxeter United Church Building Fund would be appreciated. WILLIAM KENNETH ROBERTSON William Kenneth Robertson of Morris Twp., passed away at Lis- towel Memorial Hospital, Tuesday, July 9, 1996, at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife, Flo- rence (Dixon) Mercey, daughter, Sherry and Charles Young and their family, Emily, David and Sarah of Belmont and daughter, Jacquie and Kevin Bishop and their family, Keshia, Kayla and Kabrina of RR2, Seaforth and one brother, Bruce and Lois Robertson of Gor- rie. Mr. Robertson is also survived by members of his wife's family, David and Shirley Mercey, and their family, Natalie and Ryan, Dan Mercey, Dell and Faye Mercey and their family, Alina and Amber, and Jeffery and Sandra Mercey and their daughter, Corin. He was predeceased by his par- ents, Harvey and Margaret Robert- son and his wife, Colleen Stobo (1989). The funeral service was held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wing- ham, July 11. Rev. John P. Vaudry officiated. Interment was at Wingham Cemetery. GEORGE ALEXANDER HOGGART George Alexander Hoggart passed away suddenly,Thursday, July 4, 1996 at Clinton Public Hos- pital. He was 78. Mr. Hoggart was a life-long resi- dent and farmer of Hullett Twp. He also operated a trucking company for many years and was a retired road superintendent for the town- ship. He was the beloved husband of Vietta (Coleman) and the dear father of John Hoggart and his wife, Jane, of RR1, Londesboro; Marjorie and her husband, Paul McMaster, of New Hamburg; Laura and her husband, Paul Dedrick of Simcoe, Bill Hoggart and his wife, Jean, of Stratford; Harvey Hoggart and his wife, Yvonne, of RR1, Londesboro and Betty and her husband, Bill Butler of Courtland. He will be fondly remembered by 19 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Mr. Hoggart is also survived by his brother, Wes Hoggart of Seaforth, sister-in-law, Pearl and her husband, Roy Dolmage and brother-in-law Francis Coleman and his wife, Edythe. He was predeceased by his par- ents, Charles and Emma (Riley) Hoggart and sister-in-law Greta Hoggart. Family and friends were received at the Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth. A private family funeral service was held Monday, July 8, with Rev. Stan McDonald officiating. Interment was at Clinton Ceme- tery. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Corey and Clifford Adams. Pall- bearers were Gordon Daer, Bill Sproul, Tom Cunningham, Lorne Dale, Doug Dolmage and Ray Hal- lahan. Carrying the floral tributes were Bob Dalton, Doug Snell, Ken Hul- ley and Greg Maize. NADINE MARY CATHERS Nadine Mary Cathers of Wrox- eter, passed away peacefully at her residence, July 6, after a coura- geous battle with cancer. She was 69. She was the beloved wife of Everett Cathers, the dear sister of Muriel and Jack Attwood of Lon- don, Donald and Lois Gilmar of Ancaster, Jacqueline and Ray Gowdy of Gorrie and Joanne and Bill King of Brussels. Nadine will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiated at the funeral service which was held at Wroxeter United Church, July 8. Karla King gave a reading and soloist was Margaret McInroy. Honorary pallbearers were Har- vey Mulligan and Lloyd Townsend. Pallbearers were Dwight Met- calfe, Ralph Metcalfe, Bill King, Rick Gilmar, Phil Gowdy and Chris King. Nancy Adkins, Karla King, Carol Pyke and Krista Metcalfe carried the floral tributes. In remembrance, donations to.the Wroxeter United Church or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements were entrusted to Betts Funeral Homes. FRED DICKINSON Fred Dickinson of Huronlea Nursing Home, Brussels, formerly of Atwood, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 1996. He was 92. Mr. Dickinson was the dear father of Jennifer and her husband George Subject of Atwood. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Jacquie and her hus- band, Hon, Nicki and her friend Joe, Laurraine and her fiance Rich, Kelly and her husband Stephen, and Leigh and his wife Marsha. He was the beloved great-grandfather of Anthony, Christian and Jade. Also left to mourn his passing are four step-grandchildren, six step- great-grandchildren and a son-in- law Larry Carroll. He was predeceased by his wife the former Hilda Scott. Visitation was at Peebles Funeral Home, Atwood on Thursday, July 11 from 7 -9 p.m. The service was held there on Friday at 2 p.m. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Milverton. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. FRANCIS HICKNELL Francis Hicknell of McKillop Twp. passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 1996 at the Seaforth Community Hospital. He was in his 66th year. Francis was the beloved husband of Marie Hicknell (Manley) and dear father of Joseph and Mary- Ellen of Port Stanley, Larry and Frances of Nipigon, Teresa and Martin Van Raay of Dashwood, John and Sheila of Sebringville, Margaret and Chris Rooney of Midland and Stephen at home. He will be sadly missed by his 11 grandchildren, Traci, Adam, Nicholas„ Shannon, Lawrence, Jessica, Dean, Philip, Stephanie, Justine, and Brianne. Francis was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Mathilda (Nigh) Hicknell, his mother-in-law, Callista Manley (Kelly-1953), brother Joseph (1944) and brother- in-law Murray Corman (1994). He will be sadly missed by his father- in-law, Joseph Manley of_Stratford. Francis will be fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters, Leo and Carolin Hicknell, Mary and Maurice Hallahan, Peter Hicknell, Agnes and Clive O'Neill, Patricia Corman, Ruth and Werner Marx and Keith and Joclyn Manley and many nieces and nephews. Francis will be long remembered for selflessly giving of his time to many local organizations. He was trustee for the Huron-Perth Roman Catholic School Board, first treasurer of the St. Columban PTA, executive member of the McKillop Federation of Agriculture and Seaforth Farmer's Co-op, member of the Seaforth Agriculture Society since 1963, Seaforth Jr. D. Booster Club, member of the St. Columban Parish Council, 27 years with the Father Stephen Eckert Knights of Columbus, Huron County Plowman's Association and an active supporter of the Huron '99 Plowing Match. His smile will be remembered by the children he drove to school for Murphy Bus Lines. Family and friends were received at the Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth, Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9. Funeral Mass was celebrated by Father Joseph Hardy at St. Columban Church on Wednesday, July 17 at 11 a.m. Pallbearers were Larry Wheatley, Larry Flanagan, Jack Malone, Ray Maloney, Francis Van Drunen and Joe Visser. Flower bearers were' Jack Horan, Don Kelly, Don McKercher and Tony VanBakel. Reader at the Mass was God- daughter Anita Rochon. Altar Servers were were Derrick Van Drunen, Dean Van Raay, Brent Cronin, Kevin Murray and Kyle Murray. Music was provided by the St. Columban choir under the leadership of Mary Coyne and Patsy Crowley. Memorial contributions to the Father Stephen Eckert Knights of Columbus or the Seaforth Com- munity Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
