Myth Public School-
`Change
are we ready?' asks valedictorian
By Ashley Howson
Tonight I would like to talk about
Change! It's all around us. Change
happens whether we want it or not.
Change! Are we ready for it? I
think so.
Change should be thought of as
something
positive, an
exciting
"Challenge," a
time to learn and
have fun.
In the past
years we've all
had dreams and
goals for the
future. Now they
are gradually starting to come true
and we are finally making choices on
our own that we hope will lead us in
the right direction.
Through time our thoughts and
ideas have changed too. For example
some of us wanted to be rock stars,
models, airplane pilots or work at the
local Mini-Mart so that we could
have candy whenever we wanted.
Now that we have matured and
become young adults, our goals have
changed. Many of our classmates
would like now to become lawyers,
policeman, carpenters, artists and
famous sports players.
It's unbelievable that eight years
ago we were receiving our
kindergarten diplomas. We will now
be facing change all over again,
beginning at the bottom and working
our way to the top.
The last eight years we have
progressed from the Basic ABCs,
adding and subtracting to Canadian
History and Geometry, changed from
kids to maturing teenagers still full of
spirit, energy and ambition to do
well.
As we move or., we will make
more changes. This fall some of us
will be transferring to new schools
such as CHSS, F.E. Madill or St.
Ann's. We will be making new
friends, meeting new teachers, and
working towards new challenges.
We will learn to be more
independent and learn to make our
own choices more than ever before.
We all change as we get older
sometimes for the better and
sometimes for the worse. But before
we all change too much, I would like
to congratulate everyone in my class
because we have come a long way.
For some of us it has been easy and
for some of us it has been hard to get
where we are today.
One behalf of all the graduates I
would like to thank the parents for
their support and for leading us in the
right direction. To our teachers
thanks for your kindness, knowledge,
and guidance.
I thank you, my fellow classmates,
for being wonderful friends and
helping make the memories last
forever. I shall never forget the bus
trips, embarrassing moments, sports
events and many more activities that
we did together as a class. These are
things that we can reminisce about
for the rest of our lives.
Ladies and gentlemen take a good
look at us. We are the future, we are
the class of "96".
