Noreen Gnay has been returned
as chairman of the board of
governors at Wingham and District
Hospital and George Underwood
will continue as vice chairman.
The positions were filled at the
inaugural meeting of the board
following the annual meeting, June
20.
Three new members were added
to the board at the annual meeting:
Verna Steffler and Iva Metcalfe,
representing the Town of Wingham
and John Stafford of Howick,
director-at-large.

receive and invest funds for the
hospital and devise ways of
producing money for the hospital

The 1996 Pork Congress high-
lighted various activities including
the Innovations competition, junior
barrow show, commercial breeding
stock evaluation competition,
industry exhibits, pig art, the
country craft show and sale and the
educational speakers forum. Red
Green was a Pork congress
favourite attracting 1,000 fans to

The Ontario Pork Congress is the
swine industry showcase for the
latest technology in the industry. It
is the only site where all segments
of the pork industry have an
opportunity to meet, discuss and
share information. The Ontario
Pork Congress was on June 20-21,
1996 at the Stratford Fairgrounds.

McBride summarized the concern
of local citizens about the hospital.
"The attendance here indicates
there is a tremendous concern for
the hospital and the physician
situation...I can't speak for
everybody in this room, but I think
that replacing one doctor is fine,
but we still need more doctors."
Pork Congress a success
The 1996 Ontario Pork Congress
(OPC) was an overwhelming
success. The show was sold out to
exhibitors and a record number of
participants attended the two day
show.
"We were thrilled with the
number of and enthusiasm of the
people in attendance at the Con--
gress. Their bouyance is indicative
of the future expansion and growth
within the hog industry," remarked
Jim Penders, president of insemina-
tion Techniques and Supplies
International.
Dr. George Charbonneau,
president of the OPC said, the

quality was demonstrated through-
out the congress. All of the special
