Plans continue
for Homecoming
It was Pentecost 5 with the
seasonal colour green at the service
at Blyth United Church June 30.
Rev. Stephen Huntley conducted
the service. Barbara Bosman was
organist. Greeters were John and
Vera Hesselwood. Ushers were
Fred and Debbie Hakkers and
Marilyn Craig.
Rev. Stephen Huntley opened
with Call to Worship and Introit,
The Celebration Song, accompany-
ing himself on the guitar. He had a
warm welcome to the many visitors
in the congregation attending for
the baptism. Also he extended a
special thanks to Barb Bosman for
filling in as organist over the past
several weeks.

students prepare for a new stage
with the move to secondary school,
they were rewarded for their efforts
in elementary school at the June 24
graduation ceremony.
Recipients were: Nathan Sherred,
computer technology; Chauncey
Carter-Brown, family studies;
Shawn Bromley, design technolo-
gy; Julie Ritchie, Peacemaker;
Dean wilson, citizenship; Karin
Shroccker, general efficiency, sci-
ence and French; Elisha Courtney,
most improved female; Tyler Stew-
art, most improved male; Darrell
McDougall, top male athlete; Ash-
ley Howson, top female athlete and
valedictorian; Joy Cullen, English
and math; Michelle McNichol,
English improvement; Jolene
Coburn, music; Derick Doerr, art;
Bryce Toll, history; Drew Comeil,
geography and Ryan Montgomery,
math improvement.
The Committee for the Blyth
Homecoming met June 26 to
continue with plans for the school
reunion which will be held Aug. 9,
10, 11.
The celebration is 100 years of
education.
Registration will be held at the
school Friday evening and Saturday
morning. A Homecoming parade
will commence at 12:30 p.m. from
the fairgrounds on Saturday, Aug.
10. Anyone interested in partici-
pating should contact John Elliott.
Following the parade opening
ceremonies will commence.
There will be lunch served by the
Ladies Auxiliary at the arena
Saturday at noon.
Saturday supper at the arena, will
be a Beef Barbecue. Tickets arc
available from Stitches by M.J. in
Blyth.
Dance away the years to the
music of the "Elusions", sponsored
by the Blyth Lions Club and Blyth
Legion.

Wyk, twin sons of Rick and Laurie
Van Wyk and Bryce William
Glousher, son of Bill and Karen
Glousher were initiated into the
body of Christ in an impressive
baptismal ceremony.
Rev. Huntley delivered a sermon
entitled "Honouring God." He said,
"We honour God with the sacrifice
of ourselves and He gives us back
that life in abundance. In baptism,
the child can't honour commitment
so the parents do it in our tradition,
trusting God as they place the
baby's life in His hands!"
The hymn, Guide Me, 0 Thou
Great Jehovah and This Is My
Father's World was sung.
