This program uses the various strategies of learning to read: phonics, context clues, journal writing and book knowledge. Participants who completed the program received certificates of achievement, and a book. Classroom teachers, parents, and Resource teachers have found this program to be beneficial in assisting Early Readers. The children became confident, successful readers thanks to the assistance of the dedicated volunteers. In the fall, this STAR, (Special Time Around Reading), program will be continued. Volunteers are always needed. MRS. STARKEY'S GRADE 3-4 On a Nature Walk with our kindergarten buddies, we discovered hundreds of frogs' eggs in our three ponds.
