The village was notified that
there are no additional positions
available for a representative from
council on the Seaforth Community
Hospital Board but Councillor
Mary Stretton was to be considered
for one of three open elected posi-
tions on the board at the annual
meeting.
After expressing its concern for
patients who might prefer to go to
Seaforth Hospital when picked up
by ambulance, rather than Wing-
ham Hospital, council received a
letter from Bev Brown reminding
them that many Brussels residents
also use the Listowel Hospital.
Drug use among Ontario teens, is
on the rise particularly for Grade 11
males.
This is just one of the statistics
obtained by the Addiction Research
Foundation (ARF) though a student
drug use survey.
It is not only the use of alcohol,
tobacco and cannabis which has
jumped significantly since 1993,
but glue, methamphetamines, hallu-
cinogens, PCP, cocaine and ecsta-
sy. The most commonly used drugs
in Huron County are alcohol,
cannabis and hallucinogens, with
the latter two seeing a considerable
increase.
Cannabis use jumped from 12.7
per cent in 1993 to 22.7 per cent in
.995, involving both males and
females.
For parents, educators, youth
workers or anyone else interested
in information regarding drug use,
an information night will be held
Thursday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. at
the Huron County Health and
Library Complex, Clinton.
Everyone is invited to the free
evening. Information can be
obtained by calling 519-482-1767.
