donates to telethon
Knowing their ABCs

Central Public School received recognition for their strong
showing at the April 30 regional spelling bee held in
Clinton.The Blyth Optimists sponsored students from
Hullett and Blyth Public School to attend. Veenstra and
Reinhart were the one and two finishers from Hullett.
Sheron Stadelmann, representing the Optimists,
presented them with their awards.

Notice is hereby given that the Annual Meeting of the
Wingham and District Hospital Corporation will be held in
the Nursing Assistants' Training Centre, Catherine St.,
Wingham, Ontario on Thursday, June 20, 1996 at the hour
of eight o'clock p.m. for the revision of bylaws; for the
election of Governors; for the appointment of Auditors;
and for the transaction of such other things as may
properly come before the meeting.
Copies of the Annual Report and Hospital Financial
Statements may be obtained at the front desk of the
Wingham and District Hospital effective June 12, 1996 and
at the Annual Meeting.
Memberships granting voting privileges may be
purchased at the front desk of the hospital for five dollars
($5.00) prior to five o'clock p.m., Wednesday, June 5,
1996. No membership sold, after that time will entitle the
purchaser to a vote.

Betsy Verwey welcomed the
Walkerburn Club to her home on
May 27.
"My Norwegian Mother" read by
Vera Penfound, opened the
meeting. She followed this with
prayer.
In the absence of the secretary,
Ethel Ball read the minutes and had
the roll call.
From quilts donated to the
Cancer Fund and Alzheimer's
Society totals for each of $134.50
and $94 were raised. It was decided
to donate $50 to the Children's
Hospital Telethon.
Due to the treasurer Ruth
McClinchey moving to Goderich,
Bernice Norman volunteered to
Rev. Paul Ross led the Sacrament
of Holy Communion service at
Knox United Church Sunday, June
9. Nancy Park was organist.
The opening chorus was sung.
The junior choir, under the
direction of Shelley Worsen and
accompanied at the piano by Nancy
sang I Love the Lord.
Hymn All Hail The Power of
Jesus' Name was sung followed by
prayers. The children's time
followed and the chorus was sung.
The meditation by Rev. Ross was
entitled "Marching for Jesus".
It was agreed, at the May 21
meeting of the Clinton Public Hos-
pital board, that the board should
make a concerted effort to attract
two physicians.
The Executive Committee will
meet and discuss the establishment
of a formal search committee with
representation from the community.
With reference to a letter

For the June meeting Ed
Laithwaite will show his apple
orchards and statues. He will give
the history of the latter.
This will be a pot luck lunch so
members should bring plates and
utensils. The club will meet at
Vera's at 12:30 on June 24 and go
on from there.
Ruth Dewar of Atwood, then
showed how to do strip quilting.
This was very interesting and
informative. A miscellaneous sale
was held. Pat Hunking was
auctioneer and $22 was raised.
Lunch was served by Bernice
Norman and the hostess. A social
time was enjoyed.
The communion hymn Let Us
Break Bread Together was sung.
The Sacrament of Holy
Communion took place with
servers Greg Park, Larry Plaetzer,
Doug McClinchey, Ell Lapp, Tena
Empey and Laura May Chamney.
Hymn of Commitment Faith of
Our Fathers was sung. The
offering was received by Greg Park
and Doug McClinchey then
dedicated in song.

Benediction and the singing of the
Amens concluded the service.

out by Nancy and all were shared.
She then introduced Adele
Drennaun, the founder of Goderich
Big Sisters and Elaine Osborne, the
case manager. The spoke on their
work and ended with their
philosophy, "A girl cared for today
will be a woman caring tomorrow.''
Shelly thanked them for their
informative and interesting talk and
gave them a UCW donation.
Offering was received and Nancy
gave the treasurer's report. Marjorie
McDougall gave the card report
and thank you cards were read from
Hazel Craig and Wilma Brawley.
Upcoming dates to remember are
Campsite Experience at Camp
Menesetung on June 20 and the
summer event on July 20 at Siloam
United Church, London.
Cleaning at the camp is almost
finished and cookies for the camp
in July was discussed.
Ruth Armstrong read thank you
letters from the Children's Aid and
the Child Abuse Co-ordinating
Committee.
The meeting closed with the
members enjoying homemade jelly
rolls and refreshments served by
the hostesses Nancy and Shelley.

the wedding of their sister Joyce to
Ernie Unruh on June 1. Sally

a pair of zoning bylaw amend-
ments.
Decided at the May 21 meeting
of council, amendments will be
considered for Conc. 13, Part Lot
18 and Lot 22, RP285. -
A motion was passed to change
the zoning of Conc. 13, Part Lot 18
—from General Agriculture (AGI) to
Agricultural Small Holding-Special
Provision (AG4-6). The public
meeting will be held at 8 p.m.
Discussions concerning the other
property will begin at 7:30 p.m.
