Armstrongs hold reunion
UCW plans 80+ party
The evening unit of the UCW
was held Tuesday evening June 4 at
the home of Norma Moore.
Fourteen members answered the
roll call with articles for Vacation
Bible School.
Barbara Anderson welcomed
everyone and thanked Norma for
inviting them to her home. She
opened the meeting with the poem,
"If you Have a Garden".
Annie Cook conducted the
worship service on the theme
""Those Who Have Eyes'". Hymns
Guide Me Oh Thou Great Jehovah
and My Faith Looks Up to Thee
were sung. Scripture readings were
from James 3 and Mark 9. Mildred
Yuill read the meditation and
Annie closed the worship with
prayer.
Barbara conducted the business.
She announced The Campsite
Experience June 10; Open House at
Camp Menesetung on June 12;
Sunday School Anniversary and
Chicken Barbecue on Sunday, June
16 and the Country Social on
Saturday, June 22.
It was decided to hold the over
80 birthday party on Aug. 6.
Mabel Wheeler presented a very
interesting program on the topic
"When We Really Live". She
explained to have a full life one
must live the fundamentals of life,
use their talents and, if a chance is
needed volunteering is a rewarding
and helpful challenge. Mabel
conducted a contest.
The September meeting will be at
the home of Freda Johnston. Lunch
was served by Muriel Coultes and
Louise Bosman.
Mabel's Moms met at their
regular time on Wednesday, June 5.
Those who attended were: Donna
Raynard, Trevor and Heidi; Alice
Yuill; Rev. Mary Jane Hobden and
Stephen; Lila Procter and Ben;
Annette Te Raa, Mitchell and
Janette; Andrea Stevenson, Mat-
hew, Tyler and Spencer; Connie
Shiell, Christopher and Andrea;
Linda Hess and Andrew; Candace
Chaffe, Cameron, Brandon and
Austin; Sandra Dorsch and
Melinda; Sherri Sippel, Christie,
Scott and Daniel; Kim Higgins and
Laura.
The topic was "Eating Habits".
They will meet June 12 and June
19 to complete for the summer
break.
The annual Armstrong family
reunion was held Sunday, June 2 in
the Women's Institute Hall with 42
Present. The afternoon was spent
visiting and playing some games
and contests. A delicious potluck
super was enjoyed later in the
afternoon. Kathy Workman and
Marilyn Dusky were in charge this
year.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Taylor and
Trudy Taylor of London attended
the celebration of baptism at Main
Street United Church in Mitchell
on Sunday, June 2. Joshua Mark,
son of Mark and Diane Taylor, was
one of four babies baptized during
the service.
The Women's Institute members
acknowledge the Belgrave Variety
Store and the Belgrave Co-op for
their generous donation of door
prizes for the May meetings. They
also thank the members and friends
who supported and contributed to
the Jesse's Journey campaign. It
was all greatly appreciated.
On Sunday, June 2 the Rev. and
Mrs. John Roberts attended
Mitchell United Church on the
occasion of the baptism of their
grandson. At the invitation of the
minister Rev. Gerald Brown, Mr.
Roberts baptized Evan Llewellyn
Roberts, son of Howard and Sherill
Roberts. Following the church
service a family gathering and
celebration was enjoyed at Howard
and Sherill's home.
Mr. and Mrs. Garner Nicholson,
RR 5, Brussels and Mr. and Mrs.
Wilson Thornton of Bluevale
visited on Saturday, June 8 with
Dr. Ray and Cindy Nicholson,
Victoria and Alexandra of Elmira.
They were helping to celebrate
little Alexandra's first birthday.
Lottie Scott and Freda Scott
organized the Scott picnic which
was held at the Belgrave Park on
Sunday, June 9. It was well
attended with 57 relatives from
London, Holstein, Chesley,
Listowel, Kitchener, Lions Head,
Lucan and surrounding area. A
game of ball and playing in the
park was enjoyed before a delicious
potluck supper.
The Grade 6/7 class of East
Wawanosh Public School thank
Brian's Valu-Mart for letting them
barbecue there on Thursday, Friday
and Saturday. They also thank
willing students who worked and
the parents who took time off from
their busy schedule to help out. It
was truly very much appreciated
and will help greatly for their
school class trip to Toronto on June
13 and 14. It was a very successful
endeavour.
Les Shaw is a patient in Clinton
Hospital. Friends and neighbours
wish Les a speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Smithson
of Downsview were guests for a
couple of days at the home of Beth

The WMS held its meeting on
Monday, June 3 at the home of
Hazel Dalrymple. The WMS
purpose was read in unison and the
hymn Faith of Our Fathers was
sung.
Lottie Scott read scripture from
Acts 9. Freda Scott led in prayer.
Ivy Cloakey read a meditation on
some work done with young people
in Ethiopia supported by the WMS.
Margaret gave the secretary's
report and the financial report was
given by Mrs. Cloakey.
Roll call was answered by a tree
to plant mentioned in the Bible.
Twenty-eight sick and shut-in calls
were recorded.
The members were told of the
bus trip coming up on Sept. 17. The
next meeting will be Aug. 12.
A video tape on Laura
Stevenson's trip to "Guatemala and
Managua, Nicaragua was shown.
She spent five months as a
volunteer with the Presbyterian
Church in Central America.
The hymn Father Lead Me Day
By Day was sung. Rev. Campbell
closed with prayer and the hostess
served lunch. A social time was
enjoyed.

Five Belgrave Guides are advancing to Pathfinders. They
have completed the Fun and Challenge Program for
Guides and received their Fun and Challenge pin at the
awards ceremony las Thursday. Posing for fun are from
