CA GS H SAVI WINGHAM AND DISTRICT HOSPITAL CORPORATION Notice is hereby given that the Annual Meeting of the Wingham and District Hospital Corporation will be held in the Nursing Assistants' Training Centre, Catherine St., Wingham, Ontario on Thursday, June 20, 1996 at the hour of eight o'clock p.m. for the revision of bylaws; for the election of Governors; for the appointment of Auditors; and for the transaction of such other things as may properly come before the meeting. Copies of the Annual Report and Hospital Financial Statements may be obtained at the front desk of the Wingham and District Hospital effective June 12, 1996 and at the Annual Meeting. Memberships granting voting privileges may be purchased at the front desk of the hospital for five dollars ($5.00) prior to five o'clock p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 1996. Marie resident visits The Sparks and Brownies met at the East Wawanosh Public School on Thursday, May 30. Receiving their Cyclist Badge were Camerra Yuill, Amanda Dorsch, Lindsay Malhiot, Ellen Procter and Janisa Cloakey. Camerra Yuill received her athlete badge. Each girl received a special award for something they did. Proper uniform award was given to Camerra Yuill. Ellen Procter received an award for attendance, Amanda Dorsch for being most helpful, Lindsay Malhiot for most energetic, while Janisa Cloakey received a Miss Manners award. There were 12 tables of shoot in play at the Community Centre on Friday, May 24. Winners were: high lady, Norma Moore; second high lady, Audrey Edgar; most shoots, Violet Howes; low lady, Agnes Bieman; high man, Nell Johnston (playing as a man); second high man, John King; most shoots, Richard Moore; low man, Ross Taylor. The next shoot party will be held on Friday, June 7 at 1:30 p.m. On Wednesday, May 29 there were 10 tables of euchre in play at the Women's Institute Hall. Winners were: high lady, Agnes Bieman; second high lady, Margaret King; lone hands, Donna Craig; low lady, Jean Thedorf; high The rest of the girls will receive awards next week. Year pins were awarded to Leanne Elston, three years; Camerra Yuill, two years; Amanda Dorsch, two years; Lindsay Malhiot, two years and Ellen Procter and Janisa Cloakey, three years. Everybody enjoyed playing games, sing-songs and snacks before closing. Gordon and Louise Bosman attended a surprise birthday party for their daughter-in-law Barbara Bosman, Londesboro. The party for friends and relatives was held at her sister's home Bonnie Jewitt in Clinton. Mrs. Brenda Whitfield and Miss Cathy Nichols of Sault Ste. Marie spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. George Michie. The Belgrave Library will be open Wednesday evenings from 7 - 8 p.m. Ian Fear, son of Bruce and Joyce Fear of London, grandson of Mrs. Margaret Fear of Belgrave attended with his Montcalm Secondary School Band, the International Music Festival in Philadelphia in May. The band came away with a gold medal for their effort. Ian plays drums in the percussion The general meeting of the UCW was held Thursday evening, May 28 at 8 p.m. in the church basement. Mrs. Ross Higgins, president welcomed everyone and called on the Girl guides who sang two songs, On My Honour and a campfire song. Wilma thanked the girls and called on Joyce Vincent who introduced the guest speaker, Constable Robin Melroy and her dog Hunter. Constable Melroy works with the Wingham-Durham Detachment of the OPP. She told of choosing her dog and how she The regular meeting of the Belgrave Community Club was held on May 31. The meeting opened with the singing of 0 Canada, accompanied by Freda Johnston at the piano. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and adopted on motion of Ross Anderson and Richard Moore. Correspondence was read from the Community Centre Board thanking the club for their donation of $1,000. The treasurer's report was presented. The summer birthdays were recognized: Richard Moore and Ross Taylor in June; Garner Nicholson in July; George Michie, Freda Scott and Laura Johnston in August as well as anniversaries for Stuart and Lois Chamney, Bob and Jane Grasby, Ross and Ada Taylor, Richard and Norma Moore, Ross Pupils to BBQ The parents and Grade 6/7 class from East Wawanosh Public School will be barbecuing at Brian's Valu-Mart on Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. As well as the hot dogs and hamburgers, pop, chips, coffee, candy floss and popcorn will be available. On Saturday, June 1 George Michie, Barbara Anderson, Jane Grasby, Belgrave and Adah Smith of Brussels, visited with Mrs. Gordon Martin of Orangeville. Their cousin Gordon Martin passed away on Wednesday at the age of 82. Sheila, Doug and Brandon Cousins of Guelph, Nancy, Rick, Matthew and Alicia Ball of Hanover, and Richard and Anne Catherine Anderson, Daniel and Sarah of Goderich spent Sunday with their parents Ross and Barbara Anderson. Sympathy is extended to the Procter families in the passing of their mother Alice Procter. May trained him to now be her true friend and protector. She demonstrated how she trained the dog for his various tasks. Her presentation and response to questions were most interesting to everyone. Wilma thanked Constable Melroy and presented her with a token of appreciation. Mary Hunter conducted the worship service on the theme "To Grieve To Dance". Scripture was read from Luke 7, verses 28 - 35. Hymns Oh How I Love Jesus and When Jesus Came Into My Heart were sung. Mary read the meditation and closed the worship and Barbara. Anderson. It was agreed to sponsor two bus trips this summer and fall if there is enough members sign up. They would be to the Seniors Jubilee concert in August and the Irish Rovers concert in October. Garner Nicholson presented a pictiire of the Queen he had procured through Paul Steckle's office. This is to be given to the Community Centre Board to be displayed in a suitable place. It was moved and seconded that the same nominating committee act for another year to bring in a slate of officers for the Sept. 6 meeting. Mabel Wheeler gave a report on those who had signed up for the seniors games in Exeter June 17 your thoughts and prayers be with the family in their time of sorrow. The Grade 6/7 class at East Wawanosh Public are grateful to those who supported them in their car wash held at the school on June 1, especially the parents and Mr. Fisher who pitched in and helped. It turned out to be a fun day for the workers as well. Thanks again it was much appreciated. Jack Taylor volunteered to look after the library at the Women's Institute Hall for the next two Wednesday evenings. After that it is to be looked after by volunteers for the summer. There is to be another shoot party on Friday, June 7. This is the last one until Sept. 13. The meeting adjourned to meet again Sept. 6.
