4-Hers meeting
was 'Sew Easy'
By Sarah McLellan
On Tuesday, April 16 the
Cranbrook 4-H 'seniors' held their
second meeting of "Sew Easy".
The meeting was opened with the
4-H pledge, and then we played
matching games, in which we had
to match the name of the piece of
the sewing machine or serger with
the definition of what it does.
Next, we talked about different
kinds of material such as velvet,
Robin Dunbar hosted 11 tables of
euchre Monday evening at the
Ethel Hall.
Winner were: 50/50, Harold Met-
calfe; high lady, Helen Dobson;
high man, Eva Harrison; most lone
hands, Grace Stewart and Jim
Smith; lucky number, Maxine
Heinz, Isabell Craig, Jean Bewley,
Doug Hemingway; tally card draw.
Months after Morris Twp. coun-
cil submitted their road names to
the county for use with the 911 sys-
tem, a request to revise the list was
received.
Councillors dealt with several
name changes at the March 19
meeting, when they were told there
were conflicts with other munici-
palities.
Stone School Road, Lots 1-5,
Conc 2/3, was changed to Mathcrs
Road due to a conflict with Tucker-
smith Twp.
Black Line, Sideroad 25/26
through Conc. 4, will become Mair
Line as it is conflicts with Turn-
berry Twp.
Blind Line, Sideroad 10/11,
Conc. 1, will be Abraham Line, due
to a conflict with Hay Twp.
Tower Line, Sideroad 20/21,
Conc. 1, will he renamed Wheeler
Line.
linen and satin. We discussed uses
for each of the fabrics, as well as
things not to do with them.
After, we found out what
everyone was going to make, and
out of what. Following this, we
eyed fabrics for what we wanted to
make and the meeting was closed
with the motto.
For the next meeting on Tuesday,
April 30 members are to bring their
pattern, fabric and sewing machine.
Dorothy Hamilton, Violet Smith,
Hazel McKenzie, Norman Coghlin,
Mac Smith, Bill Dobson, and Viola
Adams.
The next euchre will be May 6.
All the hall boards in Grey Twp.
have tickets for the June 30 barbe-
cue. They are available from mem-
bers only and in advance only.
River Line, Sideroad 25 /26,
Cone 5-7, will be Nichol Line.
Sunshine Line, Sideroad 10/11,
Conc. 4-10, becomes Martin Line.
Conc. 9/10 is McGavin Road.
Although agreeing to make sev-
eral changes, councillors would not
budge on Brandon Road, which
runs from F3elgrave to Ethel, and
will also keep Cranbrook Road.
Brandon Road can also be found in
Hullctt Twp. and Grey Twp wanted
the road named Belgrave-Ethel
Road.
Councillors were unhappy about
having to name county roads after
being told the county would look
after those. It was decided County
Road 16 will be Judge Road, Coun-
ty Road 12 from Wroxeter to Brus-
sels, will be Brussels Road and
from Brussels to Walton, Walton
Line while County Road 25 will be
named Blyth Road.
