There is concern over increased class sizes as well as no money for new books or paper. Also extra cur- ricular activities will cost partici- pants, so its possibility many students won't be able to participate in sporting events or other activities because of economic constraints. Johns commiserated with the fears, but again hoped for patience. "No one likes change, but I think students understand change is need- ed or they will be burdened in the future by no social system and huge debts." These changes, Johns said, will look better in years to come. "We are not changing the system to make it worse, but to make it more affordable and not lose quality. " For Bailey it is the burden to small business as well as the rural pocket that distresses him. "For business and industry this change would have less impact than they would have you think. It's just one pocket to the other, but small busi- nessess need a break." "We are not picketing or storm- ing Queen's Park. But the ones that make the noise come first and they always will if we don't do some- thing. We're just sending notice that we're not collecting taxes for education any more." Bailey says support has been growing across the province with letters coming in daily. Close to 200 municipalities have responded with 117 in whole-hearted agree- ment with Blyth's recommendation. "If we don't put pressure on, the province will continue to sit on this for a long, long-time,- said Bai- ley. "This is not a fight with any- one. In the end, we are all looking for the same things."
