Producers update profile By R.A. (Bob) Humphries, P.Ag. Agricultural Representative Clinton Field Office On Tuesday, May 14, Huron County's farm operators, along with other Canadian farmers, will be asked to update our country's agricultural profile. The special agricultural census will ask questions on land use, crops, livestock, agricultural labour, machinery and equipment, farm income and land management practices. The Census of Agriculture is the backbone of Canada's agricultural statistics program with comprehen- sive data right down to the township level. The census clearly identifies trends, issues and successes within the agricultural community. The census is conducted under legislation every five years. The law protects all information as absolutely confidential. No one has access to personal census data except Statistics Canada employees who have taken an oath of secrecy. The agricultural questionnaire has 27 steps to follow.
