Where's the beef?
More than just beef was served up by the Huron County
Beef Producers Saturday evening as they hosted a beef
barbecue and dance at BMG Community Centre in
Brussels. Kittie and Don MacGregor were kept busy
preparing the ice cream as the perfect finish to the meal.

completing the Huron County
Planning Survey. Prize winners

The March 28 meeting will be a
special Easter meal with crafts and
activities for both men and women.
17 seniors dine out
A hot casserole supper was
enjoyed prior to the St. Patrick's
Day euchre party on Monday,
March 18 in the 100F lodge
rooms. There were 14 tables at
play.
Prize winners were: high lady,
Ora Bruce, Belgrave; high man,
Kate Wilson, Brussels (playing as a
man); low lady, Joyce Scotchmer,
Bayfield; low man, Emerson
Town and Country Homemakers
Dining for Seniors Program was
held in Brussels UC on March 14
with 17 diners present.
St. Patrick's Day was celebrated
in the food, decorations and
readings. With local students on
holidays, the cook, Millie brought
along her two grandchildren,
Ashley and Courtney to help

with Homecoming '97.

President Betty Cardiff presided
over the meeting of Morning Star
Rebekah Lodge held on Tuesday,
March 12. A good attendance was
present.
The meeting opened in the usual
manner followed by the
correspondence. A letter was read
from Clinton Lodge inviting
Morning Star Lodge to Friendship
on May 6. There was a letter from,
Ilderton Sisters inviting the Lodge'
to attend their meeting on April 22
as well as one from Listowel for
the sisters to attend the official visit
of Leola Harriston on April 11.
There is to be a special church
service in Wesley Willis United
Church, Clinton on Sunday, March
24 at 11 a,m.
Lillian Moses reported on the
Humanitarian Committee. A
donation is to be given to this.
Gertie Kellington reported on the
WMS meets
Melville WMS met on March 11
at the home of Thelma Cardiff.
Isobel Gibson presided for the
devotions. The Purpose was
repeated in unison. followed by a
reading by Isobel. Fling out the
Banner was sung. The scripture,
Luke 22, verses 1-13 was read by
Thelma Cardiff.
Isobel led in prayer. She then had
an interesting topic based on Lent
and some Easter thoughts. The
hymn Take up thy Cross, the
Saviour said was repeated in
unison.
Helen Elliott presided for the
business. Reports were given and
the offering was received and
dedicated.
The roll call was answered by
each member reading a Bible verse
containing the world "raise" or
"rise.
The Easter Thankoffering
envelopes are to be distributed on
March 31.
Plans for the Missionary Sunday
in the church were discussed
briefly. It will be April 26.
Helen gave a brief review of the
changes made or planned in the
1994-1999 plan. This involves
name changes being considered for
the WMS Glad Tidings magazine
and other matters concerning the
Presbyterian Church.
Hymn As When the Hebrew
Prophet Raised the Brazen Serpent
High was read in unison, followed
by the Mizpah benediction.
Marguerite Krauter and the hostess
served lunch and a social time
followed.
The next meeting is April 15.
United Nations speak-off held at'
Clinton. A student from Goderich
won and will attend the trip to New
York.
Jane Hall and Lois McCutcheon
will be delegates to the Rebekah
Assembly, which will be held in
Toronto in June. If anyone would
like to attend the banquet which
will be held in the Brussels, Morris
and Grey Community Centre on
Saturday, April 12, admission is
$10. Call Mel McCutcheon, Dave
McCutcheon or Bill Young, Blyth.
The degree of chivalry will be held
following the dinner.
