Bulls' affiliation shows positive, exciting results The Brussels Atoms House league team had a very busy week as they finished round robin play, began a best-of-five playoff series and took part in a weekend tourna- ment. The squad finished their round robin series with a resounding vic- tory over Elma-Logan, March 12. Starting off slowly in the first, with only one goal scored by Joel Hemingway and assisted by Tyler Campbell, the team burst into action in the second. Less than four minutes into the frame, Campbell pumped in one of his own, then assisted on a Sean Hoegy goal just over a minute later. Before half the period had expired, Brussels had taken a 5-0 lead on goals by Jeff Linton and Kyle Stephenson. Hemingway and Hoegy added two more before the buzzer, allow- ing the home squad to go into the third up 7-0. Other assists in the second came from Daniel Cameron (three), Hemingway, Hoegy, Campbell, Stephenson and Linton. If the team ever let their guard down it was only for the first 30 seconds of the third as Elma-Logan was finally able to score on Brook- lyn Wheeler. After a less than successful on ice season for the Bulls this year, the persistence and dedication of the organization is showing some positive results. Last week the three-year-old debt, that the club has been carrying was paid off. The Bulls are grateful to the individuals for their understanding and extreme patience during the time they had their money at risk to keep the team going. The financial situation for the Bulls has greatly improved this year to the point where there will be a good reserve to start next season. The affiliation that was started at the beginning of this season with the Kitchener Dutchmen Jr. B is showing some very positive and exciting developments for next season. The second game will be played Wednesday, March 20, in Brussels at 7:30 p.m. and the third will move to Stephen Twp. on Friday night. Brussels also participated in the Mildmay tournament on the week- end. Brussels met Port Elgin in the first matchup, topping their oppo- nent 5-0, with Hoegy earning the shutout. Stephenson led off the scoring at 5:40 of the first, assisted by Camp- bell. Campbell and Stephenson each popped in another before the frame ended, staking their team to a 3-0 lead. Linton assisted on the Camp- bell goal. Rounding out the scoring were Campbell, assisted by Devon Blake in the second and Stephenson, assisted by Campbell, in the third. Campbell was chosen player of the game. Though the team put out a great effort, they were unable to beat the Walkerton goaltender in their sec- ond game, taking a 1-0 loss. Hoegy was selected player of the game. Hensall tops Blyth Tykes The Blyth Tykes lost a hard- fought 5-2 game to Hensall on Sunday afternoon. Josh Albrechtas and Darcey Cook scored for Blyth.
