Sep. bd. news
In response to the Ontario School
Board Reduction Task Force,
Director of Education for the
Huron-Perth County Roman
Catholic Separate School Board,
Dr. James Brown wrote a letter to
the ministry on behalf of the board.
The letter, authorized at the Feb.
26 meeting, indicated the board's
support for the existence of
HPCRCSSB as a separate entity
and for the separate and public
school systems to remain intact and
distinct. There should also be a
provincial pooling of commercial
and industrial tax assessments.
The board is against the dissolu-
tion of Penetanguishene Protestant
Separate School Board and the
pooling of surplus supervisory offi-
cers unless language and denomi-
national rights are affirmed.
Members of the board were
encouraged to request a few min-
utes at the end of mass to encour-
age parishioners to sign a letter
concerning the final report of the
Task Force.
The continuation of junior
kindergarten, as part of the com-
bined kindergarten program for
1996-97, was confirmed.
The services of A.W: Schrieber
Benefit Consultants Ltd. were
retained, at a cost of three per cent
of the premium for extended health
care, dental, travel and semi-private
benefits.
