NOTICE OF
PUBLIC MEETING
The Township of Morris is celebrating its 140th Birthday in 1996.
A public meeting Is called for
Date: Thursday, March 21, 1996 at 8:00 p.m.
Place: At the Morris Township Council Chambers
Purpose: To discuss plans for a 1 day celebration
The council ask all interested persons and groups to attend the
meeting. All proceeds from the celebration will remain with the
group in charge of that event.
Your interest and support for this celebration is vital to make the
140th birthday a success.

B/ All tires 20" in diameter

4/ After Hours Entry: $30.00 per entry
A charge will be levied for
entry into the Landfill Site
after operation hours.

A/ A charge shall apply for
disposal of any appliance
containing a refrigerant.
eg: Freezers, Refrigerators,
Heat Pumps, Air Conditioners,
Dehumidifiers, etc. $20.00 per unit
B/ A charge shall apply for
disposal of any appliance $5.00 per unit
certified as having the refrigerant
removed, being "Freon Free".
Bill and Muriel Coultes and Ruth
Johnston spent last weekend in the
north. Muriel and Ruth attended the
Algoma Presbyterial UCW meeting
on Saturday in Sault Ste. Marie
where Muriel spoke and showed
her slides of Korea.
They attended church at Holy
Trinity United Church, Elliott Lake
on Sunday and visited with Rev.
and Mrs. Peter Tucker.
On Monday they were guests of
the UCW where Muriel spoke
again and showed her pictures of
Korea with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Yuill
visited on Saturday, March 9 at the
home of Gordon Elliott and family
of Ailsa Craig in particular to see
their new grandson, Isaac Henry.
Mrs. Linda Lichtenberger and
daughters Pamela and Abby of St.
Thomas are spending several days

There were eight tables of euchre
in play at the Women's Institute
Hall on Wednesday, March 6.

Thedorf; tow lady, Laura Johnston;
high man, Dennis Leddy; second
high man, Jane Grasby (playing as
Mabel's Moms met at their
regular time on Wednesday, March
6. Those who attended were
Andrea Stevenson, Mathew, Tyler
and Spencer; Kim Higgins and
Laura; Linda Hess and Andrew;
Sherri Sippel, Christi, Scott and
Daniel; Claren Yuill and Melinda
Dorsch.
The guests were Tanya Verburg,

hosts WMS
The WMS meeting was held
Monday, March 4 at the home of
Ora Bruce.
Freda Scott presided and opened
with the WMS purpose.
A hymn In Our Hearts Celestial
Voices was read in unison.
Mrs. Scott led in prayer. Mrs.
Bruce read scripture from Psalm.
The meditation was read by Ivy
Cloakey entitled, "The Common
Heart."
The roll call was answered by a
verse on daily living. Minutes of
the last meeting were given by
Margaret Siertsema and the
financial report by Ivy.
Thirty-four sick and shut-in visits
were recorded.
April 1 will be the next meeting.
A card was signed for Rev. John
Nielson.

Stanley Black has recently
returned home from the Wingham
Hospital after being a patient for
almost three months. The
community wishes Stanley a
speedy recovery.
Lorna Cook and Lottie Scott
have returned home after enjoying
a week's vacation in Cuba.
Last Thursday Mrs. Howard
Zettler, RR 4, Walkerton visited
with her mother Elizabeth Procter
and enjoyed going for a drive. They
later picked up family members
Sherry, Amanda and Alicia and
everybody enjoyed time in
Hanover.
Last Sunday, Karen Procter, RR
5, Brussels visited with her
grandmother Mrs. Elizabeth
Procter.

play at the Belgrave Community
Centre on Friday, March 8.

1:30 p.m. Everyone welcome.
Gwen Richardson and Kathleen
Scott, representing Women's
Shelter and Counselling Services of
Huron. Richardson spoke to the
group, showed a video and passed
out information pamphlets. These
referred to Community needs,
Violence against Women, Assault -
Impact on Children, Discipline of
Children, Dispelling the Myths.
The mothers had an interesting and
informative meeting.
Verburg will be the guest speaker
at the UCW general meeting on
March 28 at 8 p.m. in the Knox
United Church.
Mabel's Moms will meet on,
Wednesday, March 27 at the
regular time - the week following
the March break.
Bob and Jane Grasby welcomed
members of Knox United Church,
Belgrave as they gathered for
worship. Guest speaker was Rev.
Neil Lackey of Wellesley.
Following the Call to Worship,
and Prayer of Approach the
congregation sang the hymn Joyful,
Joyful. Neil led in the Prayer of
Confession and Words of
Assurance after which the choir
sang a number.
Mabel Wheeler assisted in the
service by reading the Hebrew
scripture and a reading from a
Christian Letter in Romans.
Rev. Lockey had brought two
puppets to help with the children's
Young people under 21 years of

Seniors hit the lanes
Moms hear guest speaker
story. One was glad to be there and
the other was not, so Neil asked the
children how they could welcome
someone who was new and didn't
want to be there. They discovered
if they talked to him and got him
talking with them he would be
interested in being there...
The sermon was entitled, "God's
surprise -_ turning our expectations
upside clOwn." He told the
congregation that it was normal, or
Biblical, to have complaints in
churches. He referred to the story
of the woman at the well and how
the disciple complained when they
returned with food for Jesus and he
was talking to a Samaritan woman.
God's surprise is that he is always
with us and told us our complaints
have to be shared.
The offering was received by
Lindsay Michie and Candice Irwin.
Rev. Lackay included personal
prayers, requests into the prayers of
the people and the singing of Go
Now in Peace ended the service.
Next Sunday's service will be taken
by Elly Van Berg of Exeter. Lunch
will follow the service.
