The Brussels Atoms Houseleaguc
team outscored their opponents 17-
4 in two round-robin playoff games
last week.
Zurich came to town March 5,
hoping to even the playoff points
after Brussels had taken the victory
in the first contest.
It was not to be as Brussels came
out shooting in the second after a
scoreless first period.
Quickly racking up a 6-1 lead in
the middle frame, Brussels goals
were scored by Tyler Campbell,
Brandon Dixon (three), Jeff Linton
and Kyle Stephenson.
Assists were earned by Campbell
(three), Linton, Sean Hoegy (two),
Devon Blake and Matthew Clark-
son.
The team would not let up as
they took the lead to 7-2 with only
4:19 left in the third. The final three
netters were tallied in the last 2:30
of the match.

The Blyth Juveniles split two
OMHA playoff games against

had an emotional end to their
season.
On Friday, they travelled to
Cayuga and handed the home side a
4-1 defeat. Mike Heffron scored a
pair of goals for Blyth, with singles
going to Greg Toll and Tim Lyons.
Assists went to Mike Bromley,

Two days later, the Brussels

up in round-robin play.
Linton scored early to take the
team into the second frame with a
lead. He was assisted by Campbell
and Hoegy.
Elma-Logan tied the game at
6:52 of the second, spurring Brus-
sels to an outburst of scoring.
The visitors retaliated with five
in quick succession.
Points were earned by Stephen-
son (two), Campbell, Hemingway
and Linton. Assisting on the plays
were Hoegy (two), Kellington,
Dixon, Daniel Cameron, Blake and

his players for their disciplined
play, stating that the second half of
the game was very rough.
With the teams tied 7-7 in points,
the series moved to Sunday for the
deciding eighth game. The Blyth
squad started /slowly, and allowed
Cayuga to jump to 4-1 and 5-2
leads.

against Stephen Twp.
Brussels Atoms players also
competed in the Optimists tourna-
ment on the weekend.
With 16 teams travelling from as
far away as Bancroft, this week and
14 teams last week, the event was a
great success, says Optimists Tour-
nament Chair George Langlois.
The 'B' champions were Ridge-
way as they defeated Walkerton 2-
0. In the 'B' consolation final,
Cambridge Hawks took Minto
Twp. 3-2.
The 'C' championship will be
decided March 17, beginning at 10
a.m., when seven teams return to
town, says Langlois. It was stormed
out a week ago.
An added feature to this year's
event was a skills competition
which was the highlight of the tour-
nament for many, he says. "It took
the edge off the games and allowed
the players and fans to have a lot of
fun."
The Listowel squad won the
skills contest.

Blyth threatened to tie the game
with a very close play in the dying
minutes, but the Cayuga defense
held and cemented the victory.
Mulvey scored a pair of goals for
Blyth with singles going to Heffron
and Chris Howson. Assists were
awarded to Heffron, Mike Salverda
