This will leave local conservation work to be supported mainly by user fees, municipalities and other funding sources. "1996 will serve as a -transition year for conservation authorities," said Suggitt. "During this year the MVCA will be consulting with watershed municipalities and residents to determine what services will survive into 1997, and how they will be funded." Bd. reduction a possiblity Continued from page 1 as encouraging by the committee, as a level of support never before attained in Huron County would be possible. With regards to amalgamation, it is believed the HCBE can reach desired aims without joining the Perth County Board. The committee agreed trustees could be reduced to eight from the present 16, but not the suggested seven in an amalgamated board. In the case of forced amalgama- tions, operational surpluses or debt- load must not be transferred to ratepayers outside the current boundaries. It was also recommended that the province be held financially accountable for mandatory pro- grams. Trustees endorsed the recommen- dations and authorized their con- veyance to MPP Helen Johns, Minister of Education John Snobe- len and the Ontario School Board Reduction Task Force.
