Brussels Livestock report Top choice steers, heifers rebound Sales at Brussels Livestock for the week ending March 1 were: fed cattle, 677; cows, 301; veal calves, 123; stockers, 829; and pigs, 130. The market at Brussels Livestock saw top choice steers and heifers selling $1 higher with other classes selling steady. Cows sold steady. On Thursday veal sold steady on a selective demand due to the meat packing strike. On Friday stockers sold steady. There were 444 steers on offer selling from $77 to $83 to the high of $92. Forty-one steers consigned by Cunningham Farms, Lucan, averaging 1,441 lbs. sold for an average of $79.76 with a limo steer selling to the high of $92 purchased by Holly Park Meat Packers. Forty- four steers consigned by W. B. Pletch Co. Ltd., Rockwood, averag- ing 1,350 lbs. sold to the high of $90. Producers and professionals will be on hand to answer questions regarding incubation and hatching of eggs, bird handling, facilities, nutrition, health care, and more. End products such as leather, meat and oil will be on display and The Junior Farmers' Association Of Ontario (JFAO) is once again offering an opportunity to rural youth. Junior Farmer Leadership Camp '96 is being offered to all rural youth between the ages of 15 and 29 at Camp Trillium, south•of Belleville. Camp Trillium has once again offered to host this unique leader- ship opportunity in appreciation of the significant support of Junior Farmers over the past four years. Camp Trillium provides special programs for children diagnosed with cancer. The camp will run from May 15 to 20, at a cost of only $100 for JFAO members and $125 for non-members. The camp has been designed with fun, friendship, and learning in mind. The results will be a once in a lifetime experience where campers will enhance and develop their leadership skills as well as learning more about their abilities with explosive, rewarding results. Past campers have noted that Junior Farmer Leadership Camp has been one of the most significant experiences in their life. Representa- tives from emu co-operatives will be available to answer questions on market development. The food booth will be serving prepared emu meat to give participants an opportunity to try this low fat, low cholesterol red meat.
